Why do people think it's legal to sell a vehicle id???

I didn't know it was illegal to sell a cars id, Thanks for opening my eyes to this as ive just bought a new moonstone 3dr shell and was thinking of buying a moonstone log book that was on ebay a short while back. I think it was advertised with a black 500 shell?

There will be fucking loads of dodgy 3 doors about just like it seems to be acceptable in the mk1 and mk2 escort scene to swap id's etc

They're illegal to sell, and they're illegal to buy.
You cannot sell an 'id' without the original car attached to it.
Using that ID to identify a different car is, as we all know, known as ringing, which is also illegal.
That history is not relevant to someone elses Cosworth, so why sell it as such? Seller must be a few lettuces short of an alotment.
Hence why I've reported it to ebay. Go me.
