colour choices for a respray
I have taken my black RS1600i off the road now that the show season has finished. its booked in for a respray in dec,and I have started to strip the car to see what's needed to get it ready for prep,
I am still a little undecided about colour, I really like smokestone blue but not sure how it would suit a mk3 escort, but everyones saying it won't look right, or just keep it black, has anyone got any ideas on any other colours that may suit a mk3?

I think the danger is that you have it sprayed and it don't look right - too late!!!! or it just looks like a replica - doh!!
Best bet is take some good clear shots of the car and get it photoshopped to see what will work.

hi
thanks for the replies, its a genuine 16i, and i think looks good in black, but its a little different to most 16i's as its got the full S1 kit, and not all the stripes etc, so thought maybe it could carry off a colour change, but i see what your saying about looking like a rep, thats a good point, but like the photoshop idea, i think i will take some piccies and get some photoshop gurus to work their magic.
I saw an XR3 in oranhe with black wheels and it looked fab, but not sure i think its a bit to lairy really
Here she is at fordfair,

Gra, you could always go for BMW Carbon Black
Looks black when the sun isn't on it and goes a real purple-blue pearl when the sun hits it.
Unfortunately, the pics do not do it justice, it really has to be seen.

havent read full post but heres my opinion anyway!
fuck what other people think, your car is built how YOU want it!!
new style colours on old skool cars generaly dont look right though mate,
unless you pick a primary colour to elaborate with.
choose wisely, you obviousley like dark colours.........
flint grey
graphite grey
smokestone
sea grey
ash black
panther black
and thats just the ford range i can remember off the top of my head!
speak to a paint shop and look through the colour chips books,
remember that only you will have to pay for the enjoyment of your colour choice on your beloved car

the 16i is gonna be tracked next year, i dont drive it anywhere other than to shows and local meets once a month, other than that it doesnt get driven, so will be mainly used on track, but cant be stripped out which is a shame which is why it doesnt look like a track car as such, because my kiddies are proper in to their cars and love thecar shows
