Was broken down at the weekend at a motorway services, rang the RAC and they told me it whould take half an hour. went to burger king for a bite to eat, left my bro to pay so i could keep an eye out for them, when i get a phone call from the guy. he was only standing next to my car, had`nt been 10minites and they were there, had it fixed and back on the road in no time. cheers to the man.

I blew up me gearbox around 1:30am, so phoned the AA and arranged recovery. They said "They will be an hour", so as I was tired I put me coat over me and went to sleep.... (Doors locked, etc). 3hours later the Police wake me up by knocking on the window and said I need to move the car, so I explained the situation! Phoned the AA back and they said someone was on the way!

They turned up @ 6am and ONLY because the recovery driver felt sorry for me and came out of his area to get me. He was told I was at Junction X on the A1, but I told the AA I was oposite Junction X heading up the A1. They sent him to Junction X on my side of the road which was 10-20miles odd behind me!!

Got home just after 8am

Every other time has been under 3 hours!

my bf split a rad pipe on the way home from ford fair this year. called up the RAC and said he needed a low loader as the car has been lowered, told us he was gonna be 45 mins....

45 mins later he showed up in a normal van!! and then said the nearest low loader was 4 and a half hours away!!
he ended up sticking a socket in the pipe and off we went...i ended up calling his mate that turned up in his 306 gti (fucking lovely car) and towed us home to reading from j9 on the m40!!

WHat i really hate is they have to send the stupid fucking van when what you need is a flatbed because they can no way fix the car. Ive had this with duff clutches and burst brakes hoses yet they still insist on wasting time with a van and not ordering the truck until the vans made its own assessment!!

we are with ford assist and have found that when we were using the rac they were normally with us wihtin the hour
ford assist use the aa for their breakdowns (regardless of them showing a bloke from the rac in the ads) and they quote times that are upto 1.5 hours, but then they turn up normally within the hour
when we were with merc's for the vitos, they would be on the scene within about 30 minutes on average

go with direct line

they use subbies who are more interested in driving and getting the overtime in than getting their hands dirty , if you tell them its fucked its on the back of a flatbed and on the way in half hour

and as there is normally someone local to you wherever you are they only 30-45 mins away !

really cant fault them , and they have been used a lot

All the Breakdown clubs are really in the shit atm. just can't get the subcontractors to accept thier new contracts, so they have to do all the jobs themselves!

i broke down at 2am, unclassified road, used only by late night milk tankers, in thick mist. rang rac. They couldn't get anyone to take the job until the morning, so offered me a taxi home.
managed to get the cos running, luckily, no chance of leaving it in the middle of the road all night!!

I recently had to use the AA for the first time ever. Initial wait was about 1hr30, which didnt bother me too much.

Their relay service took me from Ipswich, right to my house. There were several changeovers, some with virtually no wait, others with about 2hrs max.
In general though, I thought their service was great. Couldnt fault it at all.

Apparently if you say there is a female in the party.....you immediately take a higher priority. I had no need to say such things, and wasnt in any great hurry.....

as son as you say "baby on board" they send someone out double quick i've found

on the business side of things, as soon as you mention that there are goods on board and the engine HAS to be running they prioritise them calls as well

my alternator bearing went the other week at the hemel ukford meet, called aa around 8pm and an independent garage turned up at 8.30 roughly, when i asked him for a couple of spanners as we thought the pully had came lose his reply was
"i dont have any tools, ive just come to look" so i was like
"ive looked mate, nothing hard in bloody looking, how do you repair things with no tools?"
so off he goes to his garage to get a spanner and an allen key lol, then to realise its the bearings and it isnt loose. AA wouldnt let him take me on the flatbed and insisted on one of thier blokes that was in the are coming out. around 12 midnight when the pub was closed they turn up and i finally got home at one, i wasnt impressed

3 hours for the RAC to get to me.

Took about 10 minutes convincing them it was fucked enough to send a recovery truck out.
The operator was adamant that one of their guys would be able to fix it. I told them it'd be a waste of time as the bottom end had shit itself.

In the end a random truck turned up from a local-ish garage. Not RAC marked or anything. I guess they were busy that day.
