Can't you just turn off your phones on days off???

Its not like a fucking nuclear reactor you run is going into meltdown and cant wait, really.....

Ive never understood how all these city banking types rave about some emergency because a bank goes bust or something and make it seem like its as big an emergency as a dirty bomb going off, or an earthquake wiping out 50000!!!

In a related move, a consortium of 10 investment banks announced a $70bn (£39bn) loan program that troubled financial companies can use to help ease the credit shortage.

BBC business editor Robert Peston on the potential implications

The banks - Bank of America, Barclays, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and UBS - each agreed to provide $7bn (£4bn) to the pool.
to quote a recent post, "where has the missing £1bn gone in the statement above?"

Ahh, decades of greed and corruption catching up with the US Banking Houses.

The only way the banking system will sort is way out, is through a complete collapse and reset. Anything else is simply delaying the inevitable. Put the banks back into the hands of the people, not the select few!

Well, the world still seems to be turning, what happened to the markets in the end though, as dramatic as you thought yesterday or not?

i hasten to add, that wasn't my opinion. seems it's been pretty dead today, which i find surprising althogh it was a (inter)national holiday in the far east, certainly japan and hk. (respect the aged day or something) which may well have had a big impact but to be fair, i've been had 3 hours kip since 8.30 am sunday so my head's probably not in the best place to comment!

personally i'd expect the legal sector to be pretty busy if your firm's into corporate law... someone will be suing someone else soon, that's for sure!

Warren, on another post you were saying that at the moment you would work for £40 a day, someone in a good job in the city could well be earning over a grand a day, its thier job, thier on good money, thats why they treat it like an emergency

No its not like a nuclear meltdown, this will affect more than a cheynobel, millions in fact one way or another, this is financing for the western world, can you not get your head around that? Americas banking and finances affect us all, it will be a tough couple of years for those allready hard up. Time for ppl like Lee to cut some losses and aim to make a mint though exciting times!

Yes but thats self preservation. Still not in the same league as waking up with your house on fire and the stairs gone

Yes but its not life and death in any immediate sense!! Well except stressed bankers becoming "jumpers" but thats not the banks fault

And we arent anywhere near a huge economic crash with people starving to death in the western world and bodys rotting on the street like germany in the interwar years!!

Maybe its just me and my former military perspective on emergencys but electronic money you and I cant see really doesnt bother me.

There aren't many that can get there head around it. Our entire existence these days is based on debt and borrowing. We ran out of gold and silver to back our money years ago. The only way to keep the economy going is to create more debt. Money is only worth "something" because we beleive it is.

Is bailing banks out, free trade or socialism? We call our selves a "free trade" society, but it doesn't look like one at the moment.
