I've never driven a mr2 hard down a twistie road so cant comment but i know my escort cossie was hardly fantastic in the handling department, infact i would say it was average at best

Mr2's aren't the best handling cars on the twisties mate. Make no mistake, they're not pish, but I reckon an Escort Cos would be much quicker out the bends and would carry more speed through too.



In a straight line between an Escort Cossie with zero mods, and an MR2 Turbo rev3 with zero mods the Mr2 would piss it all day long.

Mind you the MR2 owner would be weighed down with around 8 grand in used twenty's on the passenger seat to equal out the values to keep the race fair

Becuase you can buy an 1995 MR2 turbo from the auctions in Japan for a grand, spend 600 shipping it back, then 500 getting an SVA and so on. Thats why they're cheap.

The escort Cossie is expensive because they only made 7000 of them, and were an enthusiast market, and STILL are an enthusiast market. Hence why they've kept their value for the last 15 years.

Sooooo. It has NO bearing on which is the better car does it. Becuase they have never even been sold in competition with each other... Have passionford IQs dropped sharply recently? im not a fan of the cars but i am a fan of the engine which is why ive put cossie engines into a couple of different cars ive had. my current bmw is the best mix with solid german build quality with the power the cossie offers easily and cheaply.
if i had Ł15G as a lump sum to spend on a car although i cant deny the cossie is an historic icon i dont think it would be in my top 5 choices to buy.
