Wouldn't worry about it, the guy obviously doesn't know what an Escort Cosworth is.. any true petrol head would appreciate one.
The statement about buying a better car before spending any money on it is laughable though, I wish I'd thought of that, forget my Impreza, I'm going to sell it and buy an Enzo then spend the money on that.. genius!

Isnt he correct, it looks like an Escort with a tea tray on the back 
. Before I got into Cossies I thought the Escort Cossie was the ultimate boy racer car & would have prefered an MR2 anyday. I didnt realise it had a YB engine etc & was a continuation of the Sierra line. Not everyone is into Cosworths or realise their pedigree.

I've had 2 MR2 Turbo's and Richpon took me out in his ages and ages ago, also had an N/A one for a bit. Good fun cars- can't really say much more than that.
But compared to a cossie.... just dont have the road pressence or DARE I say it practicaity....

thats exactly right ,theres still many that mock my choice of engine conversion saying ive ripped the heart out of my bmw. many dont believe how cheap it is to tune a cossie upto the average stage 3 power levels. power gians like that in a bmw would cost many thousands in comparison.

i havent met a mr2 or celica owner that dont have their blinkers on. the way they write off any other car or not even acknowledge it is fooking amazing.
they only respond to mr2's or celicas.

I took my MR2 Turbo on track at National Day, and RS Combe, and people were really interested in it, asking for passenger rides etc.
Unfortunately, MR2 owners think that because it is mid-engined, that it somehow is automatically a great handling car. It isn't, but it's not bad, and it's a lot of car for the money.

I reckon everyone forgets that they started out as a car enthusiast, not a Ford/Toyota/BMW etc enthusiast.... I just bought a Ford for my first car. I'm not what the mags called, a 'dyed in the wool' Ford fan. I just like cars. People ought to thinka bit harder before proclaiming to the world that their chosen brand is better than everyone elses, when it probably isn't.
Or maybe it is. It's all down to the individual. It's like when people say Saxos are shit, they're not. The chavved up nonsense with big wheels and loads of plastic are shit, but thats the owner, not the car. A Saxo VTS will be a hoot on track etc.

Absolutely, if an MR2 was anywhere near the value of an Escos it would not be as well regarded. Thats what makes them such an appealing car. The fact for 3 grand you can go out an get something that'll not be shamed by cars at 10 grand +
And escort cossie is a different animal altogether, as it's a damn sight rarer, and will hold it's money all day.
