my standard radio has started to go wierd, like its locked, took the battery off and you have to enter the code but whatever button you press it does nothing, is there i way how i can get the damm thing to work?
If you've disconnected the battery the radio will loose its security code.
Reconnect the battery and when you turn it on it should display --CODE-- on the window.
Using the channel selection buttons at the bottoms (if its a 5000 or 6000 model) keep pressing each button in turn until the code is entered.
for example if the code is 1234 press each button in turn until 1234 is displayed in the window, then when you press the fifth button the code should lock and you should be up and running (assuming you've put the right code in)
I hope that helps, and good luck.
If it's not the code, sorry but I'd be as stuck as you.

I don't think mine needs buttons cleaned:
1. I turned it on after driving about 7 miles with the heat on.
a. I brought the temperature to about 95F (exterior temp about 70)
b. I do that every morning to remove exterior condensation on the windows.
c. Maybe temperature differential or heat has something to do with it?
2. The radio played but:
a. The rotary volume "clicker" did not work.
b. The "Radio" button on the left did nothing.
c. The Radio/Sound options did not appear in the Menu.
3. I turned the key to "off" and back on again.
4. The radio was back to normal:
a. The volume control worked.
b. The Radio button on the left worked.
c. The Radio/Sound options were back in the Menu.
Is this a problem with the radio Printed Circuit Board?
Any ideas on how to get warranty service if this remains intermittent?
