Default Would You Park Your Car On The Pavement? I Don't Like To...

But, I do live in a narrow street. I just don't like the idea of all the weight lifting to one side for so long. Not to mention bouncing on and off the kurb when you come on and off it. It can't do it any good, surely? However, my brother told me I was talking shit and they are designed for this and I didn't have a clue what I was going on about.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Benni.

no. there was a thread about this by Lee Reynolds and it really irritates me when someone parks on the kerb. They are there for pedestrians NOT cars.

Ever tried to get a pushchair past a parked car without damaging it because theyre parked on the path? Its nie on impossible, and not done spitefully, but i would NEVER comtemplate putting my childs life in jeopardy by walking on a road because some moron has parked their car on the pavement

theres my opinion

I wouldnt bump my car up a curb, id go up a dropped part and reverse off the same way if i can, but then i wouldnt like to as you never known whos going to walk past and damage it on purpose, not to mention your blocking it.

Sometimes you have to though if you have no driveway

i dont deliberately do it, but if i cant get through then thats not my fault. Ive been tempted so many times to write a note

" yes that mark along your car is off my buggy, its a path for people not cars, dont park there in future"

If I'm in the fiesta then if I have to I will. Never in the RS though I don't think weight on all one side of the car is an issue. Fat birds drive car's and I'm sure they don't need their suspension changing on one side every six months

I dont damage them, just upset the angle of the mirror so they can't see out of it. Its just to make them think that someones smacked into it hard really, might put them off parking like twats in the future?

Most damage you will do is to the tyres. Bumping up kerbs will weaken the sidewalls in no time at all, this will lead to an out of shape tyre, and could possibly blow out!

Your tracking will fucked I would imagine. Even if you creep up on the kerb and roll slowly off it.

Last week in this very street a policemen parked on the curb. Would you lot of took his mirror off? If you damage my mirror I will take out my piece, ha. On a serious note, I was joking about the piece, I also worry about kids on scooters and bikes on the pavement, not to mention prams which have already been mentioned. However, my pavement is so wide their wouldn't be an issue their, otherwise it would be a no instantly.

The problem I have is almost everyone parks on the curb so my car really does stick out a good foot. The last thing I need is someone to side swipe it.

However, after reading this I will be keeping it off the Curb.

Thanks, Benni.

P.S I agree about knocking wing mirrors with the pram, I would do the same.

I think if the curbs big enough then i have no prob with it, aslong as they dont take the piss, i live on a main'ish road and everyone parks on the curb, but there's still loads of room if my misses silver cross pram which are big!!

Quote: The problem I have is almost everyone parks on the curb so my car really does stick out a good foot. The last thing I need is someone to side swipe it.

How ever this really do my nuts in, if i did that down my road it would cause a traffic jam, there's must be a reason all the cars are park on the curb????

Plus because yours is the one sticking out it will be more likey to be hit by a shit driver not looking where the going

unless there are signs allowing you to do so, parking on the kerb wil end up with you getting a ticket

I live on a town street which is pretty narrow,so on both sides all the cars are parked on the kerb,BUT not by a stupid amount, you can still walk past with a push chair etc.

If everyone on the street didnt park on the kerb then it would be blocked and you wouldnt be able to get in or for that matter out.

I dont like parking on the kerb at all but at the minute I have no choice.
At my old street it was the same type of town street, and again I had to park on the kerb,or be faced with the bin men knocking my wing mirror off

I always park with two wheels on the path outside my mums place. However the path and verge is wide enough so that even when I'm parked theer you can get a double buggy through with ease. If I parked with all 4 wheels on the road it would obstruct the road and cause chaos

The car you see is blocking a path for parents to walk their kids to a primary school, You can also see where she is meant to park, as the council have removed a section of path and tarmac'd it, This happened in 1995 when our road petitioned against it as we was having trouble parking and getting cars down our road.

Rang the police stating what is quoted above, and they said go to the council, We had rang the council before the Police and they said that they wouldn't do nothing! My dad stated that the cars been parked like that for some time, and keeps coming back and being parked like it! Then my dad asked "so what if a blind man/women comes walking down, and hit the car and falls over? Will the council be held to blame!" answer is YES, So why won't they do fuck all, and why has the Police tried to fob us off to the council... Yet it states ON THEIR WEBSITE

Jobsworth cunts don't want to do the paperwork most prob!!

I reckon it is the council as they normally have their own division with attendants to enforce the traffic act.

This is basically a case of shoving you around for their convenience.

Go to your local council location and kick up a fuss. If they fob you off, stay firm and adamant. Then tell them if they won't do anything you will take it up with local/national newspapers and broadcast it over radio talkshows as well.

Your Curb seems really low Radleigh, mine are a bit bigger. That's what I meant about only me parking off the curb, I stick out. So, as I have enough room for prams etc on the curb, this is irrelevant as such so will parking on the curb put the suspension under stress?

I have a Volvo C30, Ryan. I love it.

Same as me. When it's mint with no dings the first one would feel like you've been raped. I never used to worry about the Focus.

Low, but not the point, Parents have to go onto the road to now get past the cunt thats parked there. There is a section she can park on, as you can see like the Blue Corsa, so why can't she? Shes not special needs, shes not unloading something, she's just a cunt.

and yes it bugs the living shit out of me.

Nearly as annoying as all these people that have 2 car driveways and garages that park on the road and pavement! Why do people insist on filling their garages with years of old crap then park their car on the fookin road (usually near a juction or bend)

There's a guy near me who parks up on the path in a nice 996 911 cab, he blocks more than 50% of the path width... asking for trouble if you ask me.

find one of them moped driving traffic wombles, flag them down and tell them to go round a plonk a ticket on her windscreen

and, knowing that they can't resist slapping them on everything that's not legal, tell them that she parks in the same post time anfter time after time, epsecially at school kicking out times and they should be papering her screen like a bunch of polish windscreen tramps

the council made my road narrower to fit a bus lane in so we all have to now park on the kerb so a car can still fit down the slip road,so we have no choice,if i saw some one go past and hit my car just coz i was on the kerb with no choice i'd go out and have a word, thats just dis-respect,
