FAO ALL......check ya ribcages!
Hi peeps,
I noticed somethin wrong with my ribcage recently (don't laugh or take the piss cos I'm quite concerned) in that i have a large 'dip' where my heart is, and the left hand side goes 'in' rather than 'out'. And my shoulder blade at the back (same side) sticks out further than the other one. It's almost as though something has hit me so hard that it's dented my ribs on the left hand side, and poked my shoulder blade out at the back
Anyway, I went to the doc's and he was quite concerned and today i have to got to the hospital to have x-rays. After the results come back I then have to be reffered to a specialist.
What I'm askin is, is you ribcage completley simetrical? or kinda different each side? The main problem I have is that my heart is literally JUST beneath the dip to the point that you can see it beating through my skin!
So whats yours like? and please gimme serious replies cos it is kinda worrying me at the moment

most people can see their heart beating thats nothing to worry about
sometimes if you have had an injury, your mucles can pull your bones out of line. which will mean that yourshoulder blade may be pulled out of line and stuck out,, this can also mean ur rib cage can be twisted slightly too, as the bones are not fixed as you think. there are fibrous joints between them...
the shoulder girdle (where the shoulder blade meets the main bit of the body) is not a very stable joint and is held by muscles... if u do a lot of work that is biased to one side of your body this might affect teh positioning of the scapulas too,
dont worry too much hun, you will be fine!!! im not saying thats whats wrong, but it was something we were looking at in my physio lecture the other day

Thanks Katie, so you reckon it's nothin to worry about? I'm hoping the x-rays will come back ok, surely if there was a major problem with it I would know about it right?

my chest goes 'in' in the middle.. ie just under my pectoral flab oops i mean musclues! ive been the doctors.. he laughed and said there was nothing to worry about.. hope hes right.
Yours sound a little diferent however.. has it allways been like that?
Ive seen a few people with 'ill chests' there was this one guy on ultimate fighting championship (bravo 11pm weekends ) who had the WHOLE of his pectoral muscle/ribcage missing/dented in.. looked propper wrong!
he was still standing and fighting! and actually won!

med talk!! tehehe, that was as simple as i could make it.. i could put it into physio speak but i think i might as well write it in french tehehe, but im sure pet will be shocked at my french!!!
basically: dont stress you skeleton isnt as rigid as you think and it can be moved and pulled by muscles etc.... so dont fret till the specialist tells u what is up.
best of luck xx

A friend of mine had a huge dip in his chest/rip cage. He had to have an OP to break his rips and rejoin them with titanium pins
Something along those lines anyway.

Testing the future
you lot sound like freaks
seriously though, my pelvis goes out of line sometimes and gives me back trouble, or my shoulder blade goes out somehow. the chiropractor soons sorts it out though with a push of the knee and a pull of the shoulder or whatever.
wouldn't worry about it, but get some pics up so we can laugh at your freakish body

AFPMSL at Boschman,
Ref the ingrowing breatbone thing, I wouldn't worry as over the years it will of all smoothed its self out inside, lots of people have what we call a sunken chest and if there are complications then it's only your skeletal system that needs "modifying", it could be alot worse, but I wouldn't really worry.
the human body is amazing , and take it from me, it can take alot of problems, good luck buddy but you don't need it, you'll be fine,
Andy
