... its because i keep noticing, on adverts, cars wearing numbers plates that they shouldn't have. it just bugs the hell out of me, wprime example s the insurance ad, where they have had the accident, then a van drives into the open car door. its a 406, i think, but on like a 56 plate
i just want to know why the go to all the effort?

I'm always intrigued by who it is who disguises cars used in adverts. There must be a company, or companies who gets normal cars and mess about with headlights, bonnets and grilles to make the cars more anonymous. There's that silver Audi A4 that they squash in the car tax advert for example. Plus all the Fords in that ad where they attach balloons to them and push them into the air are all 'disguised'.

To make the car look newer, but less costly to smash up I suppose.

Check out the front of the Sierra towards the end - Someone's spent time making it look like that..

The cars in the ford ad that float are carbon fibre or GRP iirc.
Other cars on the road etc.. are real ones disguised.
You could clearly see a mk1 fiesta with a dodgy grill stuck on and a sierra in it again, iirc.
Dunno why theyd have to disguise their own cars - they should be promoting the newer model as a successor so who cares if they make an old sierra look undesirable?
Theres another stupid ad wher they dump a ton of bricks on a BMW yet they've fitted a dodgy front to try and disguise that too.

I've noticed the same.
On that Peugeot 308 advert theres a 405 with a very late plate on, and an old 505 estate with a much newer plate on too.
And you can't see it on that video, but I'm sure that Sierra had a 54-plate on. Always bugs me too, lol
Same as the game, The Getaway on the PS2, that had plates that didn't relate to the age of any car, like 1997/1998 R-reg Rover SD1's
and worst of all, anyone watch Ashes To Ashes? I love those programmes, but it's set in 1981 and I spotted a 1984-spec Cavalier in it. not to mention an Austin Maestro, which wan't even launched until March 1983! That almost had me out of my seat that one!

this is gona sound daft but the ad where they dump the bricks on the gold car that looks like a bmw,to me actually looks like a saab made to look like a bmw.its just something about the doors and quarter, they look to long and saab like.have a good look next time its on as for sound effects,in terminator2 when john conner is being chased on his 4stroke bike which looks like an xr it sounds like a 2stroke and how many gears but the best of all or should i say "winner" of the gear change has got to be . . . . The A-Team van,i think it has about 17 gears but dont quote me on that i maybe wrong.
