£60 to install it........ all it is is 2 aerial (dish) wires, a scart plug and a power lead!!!! and if you have Sky+ already it's only a box swap nothing else as all the wiring is the same.

Tell them to stick it then, say you know what's involved and it looks like they'll be losing out on £65 amonth as you'll consider using one of the competitors then, see if that helps!

there is soemthing they need to update though when they install it which they won't tell you how to do over the phone

someone like smudge should be able to let you into the secret though, plus the codin of the box to the card and that's all it is

i did it myself and the lady o the phone as asking all sorts of questions as to what i was going to do, where i'd got it from, how much i'd paid for it unti i told her it was none of her business and she was supposed to tell me why it wasn't working

then she got all shirty and said i couldn't use the old card in the new box and they were going to charge me £20 for the upgrade so i said i wouldn't bother then and just keep the package i was on

so what i did get was the upgrade to hd, plus multiroom (the old box went upstairs) and a new card and a new contract to replace the old one which had expired

the only thing i didn't get was the warranty as i bought the box second hand off of westy, but you still have to sign up to a 12 month "you have to plug the phone line in and pay for the hd subs" malarky

i dont mind them doing it for me, just dont wanna pay 60 quid for 5 minutes work. espicially when ive been giving them 50 quid a month for a while now that that would be 60 with hd.

shes gonna ring me back in a minute so i'll see what i can get out of her

just spoke to them again and i said im not really happy with teh 60 pound install fee as it seams a lot for what they are gonna do and i cant really afford it. she said "oh well thats a shame, is there anything else i can help you with today"

and they wont reduce the price im paying for sky sports either

hopefully they will see this any reply.
the 75 quid for the box i dont mind, espicially when i could probably flog my sky+ box for a few quid too. the 60 quid install for matey to pop in and plug in a box feels a bit harsh really.

If you look on E-bay, the Sky HD boxes sell for about £140......and you just plug it in, ring sky and they set it up....

So the £75 for the box and the £60 installation isnt out the water as you are getting a BRAND NEW box........

Taken from sky's website

Sky+ HD: To get Sky+ HD, you require a Sky TV subscription, a Sky+ HD box and you need to subscribe to Sky+ HD by taking the HD Mix (£10 extra a month). Only compatible with digital satellite. Sky+ subscription required to use the Personal Video Recorder features of the Sky+ HD box (currently free while you subscribe to any Sky TV package, otherwise £10 per month). Sky+ HD box £150 when you take Sky TV and the HD Mix.

So where is the £75 deal?????????????

I rung Sky up when me Mrs got a "Free Sky + box" leaflet through the door if she signs up. I asked them to match the deal or I will just cancel and start again... Spoke to one bloke who was helpful, but couldn't do anything and then asked for the manager.

He put me through to his supervisor who went on for five minutes explaining that I had free equipment when I started and this is the same thing, just a better box. So I couldn't really argue anymore, but he mentioned SKY HD and I told him how crap the boxes were I mentioned I knew someone who worked for Sky and his had gone faulty 3 or 4 times. After a short while of him saying they have now been updated, etc he said "If you know someone who works for Sky there's a deal for staff where you get an HD box for £75 and don't pay installation, just the extra £10 per month!! He got me hooked, so I txt me mate and his sorting me out

i got a letter in the post saying i could get sky+ HD for 75 quid plus install fee.
ive had sky plus for about 9 months now with just about all the channels including sports and movies.
also got the 16m broadband and sky talk. that could be why they are offering it half price i guess.

offer runs till the end of the month for me

the cheaper instal for sky+ guys is purely down to the fact that they don't have to run new cables and pu in a new dish

if you can buy a box from curry's for £75 then it's well worth it because all you are going to be doing is plgging it into the existing plugs, adding the hdmi lead and calling sky to set the box to th card you have
