Default std zetec rod power?

what sort of power is it safe to use std zetec rods (rev range,bhp) na engine

the rod bolts are a weak point in the zetec engines for the sake of Ł65 odd quid its worth changing

yes you can re-use ARP rod bolts, before fitting them you measure the length and record it somewhere, then everytime you wish to re-use the bolts you simply measure them again and provided the anmount of stretch is still withing spec you can safely re-use them.

what rev range can std rods be used safely? 7000-8000?

That depends on your criteria. For 100,000 miles, then Ford quote 6400rpm with short burts of 6800rpm.

If you mean for doing a few thousand miles ragging it around the street or drag strip, then i'm sure regular use of 7000rpm will most likely be fine. If it's a n/a engine, then you can improve the tensile strength of the rod by getting it polished and shot-peened. Doesn't help much for forced induction though.

why bother using standard rods in a tuned engine anyway, steel ones can be bought for buttons from the states nowadays

st170 ones are steel apparently anyway, but the ones from the states are the right size for the st170 pistons
