Its been a long day.. and still no sign of Ella Sanderson!
I was awoken by an excited and scared Nicole at 5:20 this morning...
So we got up and dressed, called the hospital and they invited us down to deliver suite for an internal examination so we ate and headed up there as soon as labour pains got bad.
Labour pain had started about 6:30am and we got there about 8. Sadly, an internal shows she is only about 1cm dilated so after an hour we went home as its better than being on a ward.
The pains gradually got worse all day until we got the contraction timings down from 7 mins, to 6 mins to 5 mins... pretty regular, so we ate and headed back up there. Nicole has had enough by now, shes been in pain 12hrs + and her pubic dysfunction means its almost impossible for her to walk now, and walking is pretty much all that eases labour pains.
After another internal examination, more bad news from the midwife:,
So she has been admitted to a ward. I stayed as long as i could but the dont allow visitors after 8. I swung it till 10 but had to leave.
Im gutted, i feel so helpless with her walking round in real pain. She has been having pains for over 16 hours now and they are due to get much worse
Im sat here now awaiting a call so i can shoot back up there.
"Baby, my waters have gone!"

Ahh mate, I bet your'll be over the moon when you are "Daddy" at last.
I remember my pal James when his baby was born he did have tears of joy.
I hope all goes well, I am sure Nicole will be calling you a few choice words later when pain is at its most.
Happy times ahead mate

Nicole, thinking of you honey.
Stu, i cant imagine how frustrating it must be, you being at home while Nicole is there hurting.
Got everything crossed for you that little ella makes her appearance soon!

it's shockingly shit for the hospital to tell you to go home as they don't allow visitors
your' not a visitor ffs
the only thing i had to do was use the public toilets at ealing as the ladies one were comunale for 2 rooms and no doors in the way to make sure you could be heard screming if things were getting painful
i got fed and everything at ealing hospital (mind you, that's because all the staff who do the food there were indian aunties and kept sticking food in front of me as well as amy )
if she hasn't alerady had it done, the epidural is much better than just the nos, beause you can only suck the nos when the pains come, and by the time she's breathed the nos the pains gone because it's passed, not ebcause the nos was working
laugh and joke about it as it makes everything so much better when you are having "fun" as opposed to her giving you the evils for just sitting there reaing a paper or something rather than "helping her"
i mean, what can us blokes do while the ladies are sitting there waiting for the bay to come out? we can't go out, we can't stay in, we can't go home and feed the cat, we can';t hip out to top up the parking meter, i wasn't even allowed to go home and have a kip ffs
good lcuk with everything though, 48 hours after waters have broken they should be inducing, so if you see one of them docrots with what looks like a tube of carpenters glue in his had, don't be worried

It seems things have changed nowadays sadly. You dont go near a delivery ward until your about 8+ cm now (from what i can gather.) Until then, you stay on a normal maternity ward and adhere to normal visiting times. It's infuriating at best.
Different Hospital procedures i guess Mark. Wish we had ended up in Preston Royal as they wont induce you here unless it goes the full 48hr limit after water break so an induction is booked for 1pm tomorrow if no show today.

oh no i hope it gets easier, and know how she feels about the SPD as i had it as well, i also had my waters break and was induced after 48hrs, which consequently took 2 days anyway!
It is irritating having to labour on the ward, if she doesnt progress i would imagine she will be transferred and put on syntocinon drip to speed things up once she reaches the 48hrs.
Hope you are ready for the difficult bit Stu, by the time i had been transferred Lee was knackered and spent most of my labour asleep in the delivery suite
All the best to you both and hope your daughter makes a quick appearance

Horrible having to stand by and watch someone you love suffer when you cant do anything about it, so I know how you feel Stu.
Cant imagine what its like for Nicole, but im sure she is being really brave through it all, and Im also positive that very soon she wont even remember the pain now, when she is sat there holding Ella
Fingers crossed it all happens as smoothly and as quickly as possible for you both
