mike, you tried them yourself? was RW's car on em when you drove it? what did you think
Hi Jim,
Yes I tried the older compound on my Sapphire, and it was these that could lock up at mid-three figure speeds approaching a roundabout, with just 330mm / AP 4-pots .

You can't get them for my current callipers, as they are discontinued WRC items, so only a few companies do pads for them.

RW's was on DS3000s when I drove it IIRC .

Ive put all my Racecar customers on mintex FR2 now , much better than DS3000 which has a good initial bite but doesn't last under race conditions . The F2 is a more durable compound and has received favourable reviews from several top runners including Nick williamson ( currently leading the LMA series ) , hes had 2 sets this season combined with F4 rear pads .

Jim,
You just said the brakes were fanny-tastic, so why down-grade ? The trouble is that you will have got so used to the exceptional performance of the 97s and will find that any reduction in performance will either get you into trouble on track or will mean braking earlier etc.

the 97s have a high temp range (MASSIVE!) but average friction co-efficient (similar to DS2500s iirc but they dont provide stats on it)

the 01s have a normal temp range (about 900degrees i think) but a higher friction co-ef.

so the 01s will offer me less fade resistance but more bite. As i don't need that extra fade resistance (i dont do endurance racing) you could consider the 01 compound an upgrade for my driving style.

It depends on how you drive . Do you STAND on the brakes at the last minute (01s) or trail brake (brake early, less peddle pressure, but for longer?) (97s)?

If you're unsure, then you could always try the 01s and see how they compare when you next need to change them .

They seem to do both pretty good. The DS2500s don't like big heat build up though.

I don't know ANYTHING about 306s other than AP do a kit for them .

DS3000s on my track car - cant fault them at all. The braking power on slicks is enough to leave a bruise from the harnesses
