sure they have to give a reason to cancel a bid

what was it, and if you won it how did they cancel it?

That's what you should be telling ebay.

I've had it too - thought I was about to win something for a quid, and because it hadn't got as high as the cock-munch wanted, he cancelled it.

i've had loads like that

only one guy stood by his price which was about 40% of what the item i was bidding on nomrlally went for
every other fucker would cancel my bid at the last moment as they can't pull the auction within the last 12 hours if it's got a bid on it or something

not sure if they will just send you a shitty email saying you were not a suitable bidder or some other shit along those lines

ebay won't give a flying pygmy either but complain nover the less

as i seller on ebay, i cancel ANY bidders with Zero feedback - or who havent bought anything in the last 90 days and whose accounts are less than 30 day members - i normally do it in the last couple of seconds so they dont get a chance to re-bid and potentailly fu.ck my auction up.

Next time he lists it,set up a new account and whack a high bid on it, ie if it is worth 50 then stick Ł80 on it, when you win, leave him neg feedback saying that your bid wasn't good enough when you won the item previously for a cheap price on a no res auction, so your can't be worthy of continuing this deal either and not to be so greedy in future!!

saves you cocking your ebay up, and wastes his time like he has yours.

100% agreed - but as a seller whose been on ebay for several years and had soooo many auctions fucked up by such memebrs i jsut dont take the risk anymore and i block their bids, there's nothing worse than listing something for 10 days...it ends, a zero feebacker has bought it...you dont get paid then have to wait another 7 days for an unpaid item dispute....then wait another 7 days for the dispute to close only to get your listing fees back....ALSO Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for none paying bidders so you can understand why so many sellers are not wanting to take the risk.

TWelise - i would not have canceld your bid - i cant give you a logical explanation as so why he canceld it, only that he's a greedy fuck.

when i first started on ebay, i bought loads of really cheap tat, like cassetes and comics and stuff for pennies
then posted off a cheque
and waited
it was the easiest way to get some feedback withut having to shell out on lots of items and have lots of emails going back and forth

i've also sold on ebay a few times, but tha's a bit of a tricky thing as i've been screwed over by both ebay and paypal to the tune of Ł130 which i never saw back agian

i know what you mean

unless everyone stops using ebay they won't listen to anyne really

and as soon as they took over paypal, it was only a matter of the clock ticking away until they made an announcement that you would "have" to use paypal to pay and accept payment as an option

i'm a bit narked though as an honest buyer that peole won't accept it, as it is by far the easiest way to pay for stuff, unless they include the google checkout option, whic is easy with no fees from what i have seen and used in the past

can anyone confirm?

to be honest, there really is nothing you can do about it - he removed your bid using a legitemate ebay feature - he hasnt broken any rules, ok he's pissed you off but he has no contractual obligation to/with you. just take it on the chin.

i bought a very rare part and could not beleive me luck as the 2 bidders who had previously bid, did not in the last 25 seconds or so.
a week later and matey has fuckin lost the part, more like some ponce who missed out offered a higher amount, 5 weeks later he refunds my money.

thats a great way to get out of selling for the amount won, and i got a ebay notification i had to respond to so he could claim back his fees, i felt like i had my hat stitched on by someone with more ebay experiance than me.

oh and the negative feedback going is bollocks as you can now rotate your shit feedback yearly if you have a few user names.
ebay without permanent bad feedback showing up is shit

well what i was bidding on was a alloy cosworth airbox lid, a bailey one, i was the only bidder at 99p, what annoys me is that i was willing to pay alot more, but there where no other bidders, so it stayed at 99p and the twat cancelled my bid and then doesnt even have the decency (SP?) to respond to my email
