its a samsung tocco. has a phone lock on it anyway so cant even turn it on to see if it has been barred by the network.

Although you say hand it in, this poor sod will just be given another thru the insurance, ok he may have lost all his numbers, at one time or another we have all lost our phone.

take the sim out and call the mobile company and tell them you have the phone............the only thing i would miss about my phone is losing the numbers
infact i left my work phone in a cab once and he called my folks ("HOME" :- not my place on my work phone) and then called me and dropped it off. I gave him Ł20 for his troubles only a 5 min trip probably

I found someones phone at TOTB, got hold of the owners dad, he came all the way to TOTB about 5.30 to get it off me, and brought 8 cans of COLD beer with him for me to say thanks!
And that was THE hottest day of the year and all cost drinks were sold out, so that was awesome
Id be lost without my phone, as I dont know anyones numbers, so generally id try n give it back.

Hand it in mate, I've lost several phones (Diamonds will vouch for this) and its a fucking nightmare...
I was lucky once, I had some guy ring my house phone on my phone I'd lost and I went and met him, Bought the guy some beers as a thanks, Even though he didn't want nothing.

The police and government wont help the public, and no other fuckers will either, so its nice when someone who dont know is honest.
Not only do they feel good, it should make you feel good too

or the phone will be locked out
either way, you won't be able to put one into the other and get it to work without taking it to the local high street "specialist" to unlock for a tenner
the chip will have the company on it
it will have a number on it
call the copany and quote the number
leave them your contact details if you think it's going to be worth a reward or simply hand it into the plod shop, where it will probably be sold on at their auctions

No it will have an IMEI bar put on if it is reported (the phones serial number)
When you do use ity next if it has not been barred or if the bar has been removed, the serial number of your SIM card will be logged next to the IMEI.
Most Maajor mobile networks have a police liaison department too for this.
Hand it in you pikey counnt

i found one on a park near mums walking the dog, called home and it was a 8 year old lads who had been heartbrokeon over the loss off his phone, was worth it to go see him to see his face!!!
and if its been blocked the IMEI is blocked so no use (in u.k) anyway
and dont ask to change IMEI even in back street shops ,heavy jail term this one
call the taxi place ask them where they dropped off before you got it as i dont trust pikey cab drivers anyhow

Hand it in... Police have a specific way in which we deal with cab property ( No its not having first dibs on it before anyone says )
We wont talk theft by finding now will we
on a serious note I would be bloody lost if I lost my numbers.. If you want to give me the imei number *#06# in a pm I will check to see if it is on our database so it can be returned to the loser.

I see a lot of people saying how they were gutted when they lost their phone cos they lost their numbers, or how they'd be gutted to lose their numbers... BACK THEM UP THEN! If I lose my phone 2morrow, no bother. I have a complete working back up of the phone software, all the installed apps, and all the numbers backed up. Sure I'd be gutted to have to buy a new phone, but in the end, I'd rather pay for a new phone and still have all my numbers than get a new phone for free and have no numbers
If you really wanted to be a good samaritan, you could go to the local phone place, get it unlocked, then call one of the numbers to get hold of the owner and return - gamble as it might cost you a tenner and he/she might not give you fuck all, but least you done the right thing....
Or I'd be tempted to ring the network operator it's on (ie, if it has a T-Mobile SIM, ring them), give them the IMEI number (usually on the sticker under the battery) and they can track the owner that way usually....

ok like i said i cant get into the phone at all.
i took the sim card out and put it in one of my phones that ive had unlocked and it would appear that all their numbers are on the phone as there are no details on the sim at all.
so i have no access to any details of the person who lost it.
i have no problem handing it back in as its of no use to me at all. but in all honestly how many of u would would go to the local police station if u lost a phone.
ive lost a few in the past and have always just put it down to being to drunk. my fault, get over it.
i'll see if i can find some contact details for orange (the network its on) and see if there is anything they can do.
the cab wasnt what u would call legal so they aint gonna be any help.

Found two phones in cabs.
First one was a pile of shat, mates all trying to have it away. I called the number under MUM and the next day the lad came and got it, gave me a fiver and said he'd have been lost without it and couldn't believe someone had actually bothered to get it back to him.
Second one was a nice phone, called MUM again and it was her daughters, she called the next day with a create of beer and a box of chocolates for the misses, she over the moon that she had he phone back, i had even called before she realised so hadn't cancelled it.
Can you believe that NEITHER phone had any snatch on, all clean picutres, whats up with people!!!
