ConvertXtoDVD or buy a divx dvd player and you never need to encode another avi to dvd again

a vob file is a dvd rip file,
if you had a 4.5gb vob file you could burn it to dvd and watch ok,
you can watch avi's on a playstation aswell

I use ConvertXtoDVD, but have never paid for it. When I got it, it was freeware, surprised they charging for it now (well, actually, no, not THAT surprised)

Good programme allows you to make menu's etc aswell as just create the DVD files. Also lets you add several files to make a disc with more than one film on - great if you want to burn a multiple episodes of a TV series to dvd.

Another point worth noting. If you should have a bunch of DVD files (typically .VOB, .VTS, .BUP, .IFO) that total over 4.5gb (to fit on a single layer DVD) pr 8.5gb (to fit on a dual layer DVD), you can use DVDShrink to compress the files into a new set of DVD files to the required size limit
