Default Evo 6

My little bro has just brought himself a evo 6, everytime he turns the steering wheel full lock going to the right it makes a knocking noise, now he's changed the CV joint but still no joy..

Any ideas?

is everything tight, suspension top bolts, ball joints, is the wheel bearing gone?

I would get it jacked up and check everything is in good nick and tight mate.

Its your diff bolts most likely. You can get uprated bolts and glue the fuckers in to stop them breaking again. Problem solved

I have never had to change them, Shocks yes strut tops no, Diff bolts loads, the clucking through the steering tell you its diff bolts.

what about a clunk in a straight line when going over speed humps?? that goes when ever it rains? I have a lower cusco brace fitted and i reckon it might be that..or a worn bush or summat.

They are flairly clunky anyway, Drop links do go and I would check roll bar bushes, Rear bushes cause problems also.

Very good chance Mark's hit the nail on the head with this - was going to be suggestion later if the struts got a clean bill of health

The diff bolts shear for fun sadly - when i was at RC we used to use some slightly different ones and plenty of loctite when they went back together

Ive just remembered something, I had the car up in the air in my m8's lockup when we were fitting the CV joint, I put in 1st gear while in the air while my m8 stood underneath it and there was no knocking so could it still be the diff bolts or something to do with the suspension?
