450 bhp zetec

Lloyd - why use a turbo? you could do a 250bhp NA screamer and throw 200bhp of gas in with it . just look at the opposition... seems to work for them!
what are you going to use the car for mostly?[/quote]
1/4 stuff and track use.. i am hoping to build a competative car for totb fwd next year.
na could be a option, just need to work out a spec before i start buying anything.

Hmm aeema to me that not ALL of this is tested, cause the engine me and my m8 build some years ago now, did a LOT more bhp then what stated here.
Did a compressor tuning on a black top 2l std zetech engine, head ported and poilished, rover inlet, 304`cams arp top bolts, 4-2 exh manifold biggest compressor ROTREX could do us boosting 1,4bar and custom exhaust, HALTECH e6 management system.
This was on a std bottom end that had done 221.000km in a danish policecar.
Dyno showed 477bhp / 468nm @ 7980rpm, we did go 8400 rpm but that did destroy some oilpumps so cut it down to 7800rpm, and there after they were just fine.
Engine did about 8000km of FULL ABUSE on the street and drag with a lot of top speed also.
Engine were then taken appart and got filled with FRS parts, but newer got on the road again tho.
I even have pictures of it, maybe we were lucky, i dont know, but it worked and diden´t break anything but oilpumps

Will have to go home and get the pics from my extern harddrive, but wil fix that later tonight.
Standard bottom end std compression yes, standard.
It was std pumps, And the pump destroyed it self and the main bearings, but nothing else.
Will try to sort some pics, but i´m @ work now so will go a few hours

What do you know about this engine?
It´s the same thing as in the old days people were telling that over 500 bhp in a cossie engine, it would blow up after 5 min......
#52
What I am saying is that in my opinion, that engine wasn't doing 477bhp on a standard bottom end. I never said it wasn't reliable. I also stated that you don't need more than 270bhp in a fiesta, for example, to run 12.7s quarter miles. Make of it what you wish.

Funny that YOU are telling me that the engine WE build didn`t do 477 bhp on the dyno
Any facts to back that up then?

It was on a rr not engine dyno, and no sheet or anything, only pics.
This was made over 4 years ago now, primarely to test when the engine gave up, cause it was so similar to the FRS engine.
Maybe this teaser pic would help

This isn't a pissing contest, it's about facts. The facts are a standard zetec bottom end isn't going to be doing 477bhp. I'm not calling you a liar, you may very well believe it, but I don't believe the figures you've seen are accurate.
#68
btw, have you EVER testet what a std bottom end can take?

As I said, this isn't a pissing contest. Just take a step back for a moment and realise that what you are posting defies what everyone in the zetec tuning game has researched and developed over the past 15 years.
You are effectively making a statement that you do not need forged pistons or steel rods for 477bhp or even a drop in compression ratio.
I don't think it's me who needs to be proving anything...................

Why WOULDNT a stock bottomended Zetec do that?
power capability isnt in the bottomend, its in the turbo and head, and that thing had ridiculouisly mental cams over 300degrees (way more than anyone here bothers with), modified head, and a holset turbo the size of a small child.

As i said before, i dont have to prove anything, cause i know what it did no matter what YOU say
Maybe we were lucky it dident break, but it did the power.
And no graff still as i dont have any.

come on now lets not start argueing, its been a good thread up to now. and all imput is important.
for the cost of steel rods and forged pistons i dont think its worth the risk of failour not to fit them.

fuck off
anyway, here's a nice hard FACT
a vauxhall nova/corsa with a tuned xe on bodies can run low 13's easily
the same car with lots of gas can then run low 12's or 11's
how many 200bhp fords run in the 13's all day long? we've seriously got to improve our game to keep up with the opposition
