the majority of insurance companys now use replica panels like imperial , hadrian etc in stead of genuine ones on cars over 3 years old now and u have to remember its a d or e reg car if u dont have an agreed valuation they,ll give u whatever they want

This happened to me a few years ago, I asked for a cash settlement and dealt with my own bodyshop.

I bought a copy o/s/f wing for my 3dr and it fitted better than the oe wing I eventualy fitted (only fitted oe just because its got a ford stamp ). Trouble with alot of NOS is it can lose it shape/form over time, you'd go a funny shape if you were made to sit in a warehouse for 20-25yrs

Cant you get a repair estimate from a RS specialist? That way they could price up and source all the parts required, so the quote will look less like guess work to the insurance company.

some insurance companies make a pay out and then won't sell you the car. they would rather crush it!!! worth double double checking

At the end of the day there is NO hard and fast rule, it is whatever you and the insurance company agree on, remember it is YOUR car not thiers and they CANNOT settle unless you agree.
Pattern panels are std practice, and having used Hadrian they fit perfectly well, most of these older panles are made using dies that were used to make the originals anyway, as cost of a die is Ł100,000 +, so not cost effective for a 25 year old car, the old dies are sold off, a bit worn out etc, as the more stamps they do the more wear they get.
Just tell the insurer you wish to settle on keeping the salvage, which is normally charged for at 10% of the accident value, insurers are happy to do this if you offer to sign a disclaimer as it saves them scrapping costs.
I have done this with 3 different cars, just took money from insurer and repaired myself, though I am driving around in a "write off" at the moment, it has a dent in the rear 1/4 about 1" long and 1/8" deep, and a scrathed bumper, but got Ł480 repair costs, just keep forgetting to do it!!
