Do st170 driveshafts fit the rs focus gear box?

my mechanic is half way through fitting mine but seems to think that they are diffrent sizes his example was putting your di ck in a dustbin lol
i think he means the holes to big for the shaft?

Ok i can 110% conclude they wont!...
The shafts are different, the inner spline on both inner cv cup(gearbox end) is differnt as is the driveshaft spline for the tri bearing which sits in the cup on the gearbox shaft.
Also the bearing that runs in the carrier bolted to the sump is differnt and the mounting bracket also.
Then the outer cv joint spline to driveshaft is differnt but the spline into the hub is the same as all zetec cars throughout the range i.e mondeo focus fiesta etc.
I have fitted the st170 to my Fiesta so im posistive all the above is true...
If you have any contacts for the st170 shafts i would be interested in spares please.!

my st170 shafts might be for sale now they wont fit!

As for the focus rs and standard compatibilty im not sure, COCHYN of here will know.
Im sure i remember him saying that they are all the same but i may be mistaken.
Where the RS runs pretty much a standard style 5 speed mtx with just differnt gearing and quaife the splines are the same. The st170 though everything is differnt even the sump.. EVERYTHING IS UNIQUE on it.

hello there,ive carried out fitting a focus rs engine/gearbox etc to my 2.0 zetec esp on an x reg and used the standard shafts,they fit in the box fine but ul have to use the 2.0 zetec driveshaft mounting on the back of the block as the rs one wont fit as its different,unfortunately its not that easy as you have to cut the top bolt hole of completely as the rs has an oil feed on the back of the block where the top 10mm bolt fits,its hard to explain are you still with me??
if ive not explained it right or ive lost you let me know
