I used to do it ages ago I managed to get up to my Grade 4 in competition but it got too scary and I started to bottle doing some of the rountines. I injured my back too which didn't help, I also sprained both ankles which didn't help.

It really does take loads of guts and skill, well worth watching, especially the mens final

Womens has started now

The men's final sounds far less interesting, less in the way of jubblies bouncing about.

Female athlete's, on the whole, don't have bouncy jubblies anyway - very boring

I suggest turning it off and watching Baywatch instead

That was why he was watching it in the first place. He's been going to help out at the school swimming club since he was 19 and was the only one left protesting when they tried to shut it down, eventually putting money in out of his own pocket.

I did this for two years (not to any competition level I might add) - Rachel Paul was my ex-girlfriend, she is now a coach and now teaches our daughter every week .

Hardy-ha, no, I used to jump up and down on a trampoline . Can still do forward and backward summies, and crash dives etc now, even after a seven year break .

However, I don't look particularly elegant doing it .

that's probably because your leotard don't fit any more

plus you don't want to look like you are advertising some sort of hair care products

I injured my back doing crash dive ball outs. It's actually one of my favourite moves to perform. I kind of gave up after I started getting fearful of performing some of the moves for the rountines I was learning. Once I started getting to full twisting summies etc I didn't feel confident enough so I stopped going.

I'd like to see how elegant you look on a trampoline lol!!

I gave it up because of the opposite reason . Being an adrenaline junky, I would do anything and had no fear of what might happen (finding it puzzling how some of the others there found some of the moves scary). I then realised that the reason they were scared, was if you fell wrongly, you could probably end up crippling yourself (once I was confident I knew what I was doing (after doing the move 2-3 times successfully), I would refuse the use of the mat a bit too early in retrospect). So I realised that if I didn't respect the risk potential as much as they did, I could end up getting cocky and hurting myself badly, so thought it prudent to stop before that happened .

Even now when taking my daughter, I watch the really experienced ones doing the move you describe and they're still wanting a mat for the crash dive / ball-out (having done it LOADS of times) and are literally shaking doing the move and seem relieved when it is over . I suppose they're braver than me, as they have the fear, but are still doing it . You're not brave if you're not fearful .

You wouldn't want to see me, as I have no grace and am a typical man on a trampoline - all arms and legs, no pointy toes and bent legs .

I think that men have better form on the trampoline and are cleaner when performing their moves that women are to be honest. Perhaps because they are more powerful and can maintain the height.

I think once you start getting injured you realise that your not invincible and you start getting scared at what could happen. It's certainly what happened to me. I may still go back to it once I've had the baby. I used to love it and I was training at least 3 times a week sometimes more before a competition. I don't know if I'd want to compete again but I'd definitely go back just for the love of the sport

I don't think you can get much better form than this, she could have competed at least at a National level, but decided to go coaching instead, as she didn't believe she was good enough ( typical girl!) :

Looks very good

One of the girls from our club competed at the Nationals in Birmingham. Its not until you go somewhere like that you realise just how shit you are and how good everyone else is lol!!

I have nothing but admiration for people who compete at top level. The skill involved is immense
