i saw a video back in the day when i did my airbag training,
a guy thought he would be clever to work on his steering without removing the steering wheel/airbag.
he removed the whole column and sat it face down in the passenger floor.....needless to say the bag deployed, and blew the column through the roof of the car, opening the roof like a bean tin

If you google MES or Marine Escape System to see what it is, Imagine it deploying inside a ship instead of outside
About 100 fat american old people scattered and then assumed we must be sinking
About 50 of them came back with lifejackets on
