Default mobile phone disconnections, how?

my brother moved to ireland last april, he had 11 months left to run on his contracted mobile phone
rather than disconnect, or transfer, he told them that he would not use the number and pay the contract out till the end of it's term
simple enough?
now t-mobile are sending loads of letters asking him to pay his £30 a month money or else
he coulnd't give a fuck really as he's in oz but the lady on the phone has said she won't give me access to his account without a password (which he can't rememebr) and that he has to call in to sort the problem out (which he won't do as he's in oz, as previously mentioned)

the contract is up but he's still got to pay for 30 days and HE has to call up to get a 30 day discconection thing set up

anyone else had this?

surely when the contracts at an end it ends yes? the letters have been piling up for months though

I do not have to renew the contract for my gas or electric each year, or broadband, these roll on year on year.. I have to cancel these when I no longer require them.

the contract period for a mobile phone is the period when the cost of the mobile phone is subsidised by the service provider, when you are outside this contract you are able to leave however in most cases you have to provide notification.

Think your brothers in the wrong myself and should have sorted his affairs and bills before he left

Minimum contract period.
THEY aint ever gonna cancel it unless he asks for it to be cancelled. The contract term as just said is the minimum time where you cant just cancel.
Id also expect he will owe line rentall for all the time he has had said contract, ie 11months at say £30 a month.
That what id normally look at if i was thinking of ending early, how many months left at how much, and figure that to be my "buy out" price .

Best thing he couldve done was change to a different tarrif if they allowed that, heard people changing to a pay as you go, but still with the same provider, so you covered in the contract terms, dont know how true that is, as the contract originaly was for £30 a month flat.

he explained that he was going to carry on paying the basic bills for the contract until they ran out, because otherwise he would have to change the contract, which would mean havig it for longer, plus there was a nice new phone that he'd had off of them as wll which he'd have to upgrade of faff about with

so t-mobile were well aware tha, 11 month left on the contract, he was going to pay the term and then have it clsoed

but they are still chasing him for the money even though he's not been in the country now for the past 15 months

and then, when i phoned up, they put me on hold and then hung up so i'm not really that bothered to be calling them back up again to waste another 19 minutes punching numbers

And as long as you dont ring back, they will keep adding another £30 a month on

And everywhere has a password to allow the non contracted person to have access, so either your brother is going to have to ring up from Aus and by answering some security questions prove he is who he says and then cancel, or unless you know enough about your brother and can pretend to be him (at least your the same sex, not like husbands and wives etc where it pretty hard to pretend even tho could answer all the questions lol, in my case my name MR S B****, so I normally in the case of my ex (the sky still in her name) I normally say NO its not MRS B*** its MR S B*** youve made a mistake lol)

Steve

PS shouldnt you be doing some work rather than sitting here or on the phone sorting your brothers life out

you coont

not phoned back, i'm just going to tell hm to email their cunstomer complainst bit on the website and see what happens

i mean, what are they going to do to him if he doesn't pay? extridite him?

besides, the letter (the last one) says that they'll cut him off if he doens't pay the money by the 7th of august, so it's not really going to be a big deal is it

The contract will confirm the minimum period and the procedure to give notice.

Why not just send T-Mobile a letter in your brother's name giving the thirty days notice and the money that is outstanding so far. Send it Recorded Delivery and then they can whistle for any more money beyond that point, though you may have the final month to pay for.

Dunno if it's always there but, right now, the foot of this thread has a big T-Mobile advert!!!

inteligent advertising i think it's called

i've had no problems with them servicewise, but i've just calledup and they said i could get him to write in and explain what was happening and see what the reply was

i think i'll get him to post a letter

or at least email me a letter so i can post it out recorded delivery for him and then they can send it back to his address is oz

thing is, the contract was due to run out in april or march even so i'm not sure why they've only billed him for £30 in total

as for debt collection, he doesn't live here, nor has he resides in this country as of last april so nothing here belongs to him so there is nothing to collect on the debt, unless they fly someone over to oz for the money
