Hi all, New member here about to embark on new project to fit 3.0 V6 Essex into a Mk1 escort bodyshell. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Bill

my first Mk1 had been modded to take the essex... that blew up and it had pinto in when i bought it

the transmission tunnel had been 'enlarged' quite a bit.... smashed to fook with a sledge hammer it looked like!

battery had gone to the boot. few more exhaust hangers... otherwise the shell looked pretty standard...

Just remember that the V6 essex engine is very heavy and it will not handle as well as with a crossflow in it. Even a pinto is a bit heavy for them. Not only will it affect the handling,it is harder to fit and a good pinto or xflow will show it up round the track,so ok for a show type car but not as a track car.

regards mark

Having been out in a mk1 with a essex fitted who cares is all i can say what a fun car that was.

Only problem we ever had with it was overheating on a very hot day so get a good sized rad in there.

As for tunnel i think it was a capri one we used just stiched into the mk1 shell bubble arches and a capri rear axle
