'gun' it off... otherwise assuming the sump is off jam a spanner in the crank/block to stop it turning!

no i cannot undo any of the 9 bolts holding the flywheel onto the crank

tappign them with a hammer is not possible due to the proximity of the bolts and the fact they are only 16mm

A good trick i always use is to use a Battery clamp. Put a bolt through the centre and into one of your gearbox mounting holes, turn the clamp until it locks into the teath of the flywheel. You can then undo the flywheel bolts.

did this last week the easy way mate.

go out and buy one of those 12V hammer action wheel nut undoing jobs. put it on your battery and something inside spins up and suddenly whacks the bolt undone. do it 2 or 3 times on each bolt and they'll fly out.

excellent tools. will find a link in a sec to show you what i mean.

trust me, this is the best way if you don't have a proper air hammer or proper electric wazz gun.

using one of the bellhousing bolt holes (with no threads in it) slide a punch into it and use that as a leverage point to get you bar against the teeth of the flywheel if you get me....

as said, the 2 bolts in the holes and a bit of scaffold pipe should do it

Ask your friend to take a spanner, grad one of the flywheel bolts with it and hold the spanner really tight.

Then you go sit in the drivers seat and turn the key

on a cosworth the starter motor mounts to the gearbox

to get to the flywheel the gearbox has to be removed so thus so does the starter lol

how about 2 spanners, you will eventually undo all but 1 bolt, then you will need to hold the fly, by using say 2 bolts and your jack handle
