£30k+ on the Scoob over the past 3yrs.... oh that is just modifications and not running / servicing / maintenance costs. ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Still having more work done now and is booked back in at the tuners again!![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
The labour is the killer, but then it always is when you are testing and developing stuff.

500 quid car
20 quid for 2 alloys on back with tyres to match the front
100 quid for oil feed pipe
20 quid for a tacho
30 quid for a injector ballast pack
10 quid for new belts
lots of free stuff (shift light, bucket seats, gear knob, spare wheels etc)
erm.....and a few hundred on oil in the last six months due to various leaks!lol
so 680 quid since january, not bad IMO!

in 2 years and just under 5000 miles i've spent the massive totals of:
just over £300 on maintenance (couple of lower arms, oil n filter change, crank sensor and couple of odd bits n bobs
just under £400 on mods (samco's, poly bushes and some engine bay bling)
with this one its been cheap RS ownership so far.

This Scoob (which is over 500bhp) has been more reliable than the THREE Cosworths I have owned before, put together. What makes that even more laughable is the fact that this car has spent loads more doing track and competition stuff as well. ![Raz](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

by WASTING money and buying all the same things over and over again. also that includes labour as well as parts. probably only about 6k worth of parts on that car.
examples of money wasted
£1200 for respray, then £800 to respray again after accident (didnt need a respray anyway!)
£600 on brand new esccos wheels after getting the old ones refurbed anyway!
4 SETS of tyres @ 400 each! (kepts getting punctures!!!!!!)
about 1k to have the standard gearbox rebuilt when it didnt really need it
about 1k on getting standard ECU/loom working then another 2k getting emerald afterwards![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
1k on havign two different exahusts made up (didnt like the first one... lol)
1k on two different sets of suspension (didnt like the first one)
about 1k on three different sets of brakes!
)

Any engine can shit it's load and mine is not immune, but it has held together without any issues for 8k miles now, being used as a car like this should be.
![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
My engine is now a Cosworth blueprinted 2.5ltr flat four engine, and the car has had as much spent on anxillaries as it has on the engine (and some). All with the intention to make it as reliable as I could for track use etc, whilst still on a fixed (albeit quite large) budget.
Newage transmission is rock solid though at this level (currently), with the only exception of a twin plate clutch required. Having completed over 40 full bore launches and countless track action, it's all hunky dory. Not many standard transmissions from a £25k mass production car capable of that (especially having to contend with over 550lbft or torque).

lol regarding the name.

But yes, it was earlier Classic engines that had issues with big ends etc. A lot of engines letting go has also been down to abuse and not being tuned properly. Saving that though, quite a few new shape engines have problems as well. The strongest engine to date is the previous Newage 2ltr... especially in Jap guise.

on my last 3 actual modififed to lots cars?
over teh past 15 years about £74k
the estate owes me about £40k
the saph owed me about £15k
the 3 door owed me about £19k
tha'ts nor including the cars i've had inbetween, the twinkly i did lots of cheap mods to which should have cost me about £5k but i think i've sorted it with freebies from loads of places for about £500
and the mondeo already owes me about £5k on a car that i said i wouldn't touch![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
so overall i'd say about £100k spunked on motors in the past 15 years or so, and that's not including the initial purchase prices
that'd add at least another £25k to that ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/shocked.gif)
