Got 2 horses myself recently, really attached to them now - cant imagine what you must be feeling

nicole, dont beat yourself up about it, you personally couldnt help him, disease is disease, fate ios fate, and dont think of another as a replacement for paddy, they all have different personalities like we do, all individual. ive got 2 more now and they are everything that the others were in there own way if you understand

Nicole, from what stu has told me you have done ALL you could, think about all the good you have given him since you've had him. Until he came to you, he had a pretty bleak future and you were the only one to give him love, attention, kindness, etc... something to look forward to every day. I am sure he loves you for that, we all do.

Thanks, but for some reason i can't see past my greif and i don't think i will ever get another horse, this is the second one to die on me and trust me it's no easier on the second time round, in fact it's much worse!!
If i got another horse i would feel like i was betraying Paddy or something

Might sound stupid to some, but until youv'e experienced it, it is hard to understand what others are feeling.

i bet you didnt feel that paddy was a replacement for the other one, so if you can imagine fast forwarding your feelings until the initial grief and shock has passed (like last time) you will trink differently

I waited 4 years to get another one after Rosie died. Paddy was my last chance, i always knew that. I guess i may feel diffrently some day, but right now i can't even consider it. Thanks for trying to make me feel better

Just heard from the crematorium, paddy is going to be cremated and then i will be able to do as i wish with his ashes

I had horse's all my life was even on the british showjumping team!So i know how much agony you must be feeling I still think back to my first pony thinking is he still alive and even have nightmares about him being mistreated and wake up in tears !!! Sounds silly to some people but horse touch your heart. Don't really know what else to say im lost for words must be so hard for you!!! I dread to imagine what your going through Be strong

u dont need to even think about another horse yet nicole... just hold onto the special memories with paddy and cherish them cos they are so important. but think of it this way, i know he was a horse but he got so much out of the fact u loved him so much he wouldnt want u to deprive other horses of that love.... and im sure hes up there looking after you.

Thanks again for your comments, i didn't realise so many peeps on this board have had horses and have been good enough to share a bit of support.

It's strange, i will forget for a few minutes that he has gone, then i'll think "got to go and see paddy" Then i remember

I guess i just have to wait for the worst part to pass, i don't know what i am going to do with my spare time now, i used to spend all my spare time with paddy or researching or studying. I have lost my motivation for the time being, need to keep my mind occupied with something other than horses!!

I dont think i will give up my career, just have a break for a few weeks.

Its hard because i work on the yard where i kept paddy, so i have to deal with that every day. Maybe it will do me good to just get on with it and deal with it and face all the memories. Like when he had a tantrum and flung me across the indoor riding school!!!!

I don't really give anything up i start, but i think a break is in order.

But if you have a break will you be able to bring your self to face it again Somethime's having a break can make things worse and harder to deal with! Its a tricky one Lol i i was breaking a youngster once and it had a tantrum to in the indoor scool bucked, reared, in the end it through its self over backwards to get me off Then it just looked at me as if to say oh what have i done sorry, with the biggest softests eyes how could you not forgive a horse for anything,they have so much power they really don't relise it themselves........Incredible animals

This is my first ever pony 2nd pic down at the front and i was about 14 lol .............. And i still miss him and wonder where he is what he is doing we did everything together travelled the country to showjumping events. I went through a stage of trying to track him down then i decided it was for the best not to as it would break my heart
