I've been thinking about breaking my saff to do a cossie'd Mk1 escort and I keep going round in circles.![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
I thought an outside view of it my help, all comments welcome.
My 2wd saff is t34.63 on greys live mapped by msd, with als/Lc and has been performing well so far this year at various track events and on the road. It is now in my garage on axle stands with no gearbox( I just bought a big tooth box and have yet to fit it), and a needs few odd jobs to the interior doing.(cage, buckets need fitting and a few rusty bits sorting out coupled with some bodywork paint)
Its a nice car but feels under powered now, and needs a trip to msd to fix my als which is not working.
But I have been offered a Mk1 escort shell(£500) which would be perfect for a yb, and a close friend of mine owns a resto garage and is willing to help me with the fab/prep work envolved in his spare time for free. I also have a suitable rear axle and some suspension for the conversion.
So my thoughts are get a roller bearing T4, some bigger injectors and go up to msd for a live map and get my als working again on the saff.
Or break the saff and use the money I would have spent on the above and what I get breaking it to do the mk1.
cheers for staying with me through that.

Do the mk1, sounds like the shell is a good price as 2 door shells are not cheep, also one finished it will be worth much more than the saff.

i'd be going down the escort route to, just save the bits you need and sell the saff maybe as a complete car so it all go's in one lump sooner than boneing it and being left with lots of bit's that don't sell. maybe a complete rolling shell is it woth stripping every last bit ???

go for the escort, at that price for the shell, and getting the fab work done for free, you cant loose, the car will be worth a lot more than the saff.

do the shell on mk1 to historic rally spec (short link bxs etc) and don't butcher inner wings or front panel and if you get bored at a later date shell is worth good money.

Mk1 done by place near us ![Smokin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smokin.gif)

Personally i would go for Focus/Fiesta mate, newer metal and parts are readily available. Hence the Ka over a nice Mk2
Little bit more fab work obviously but its not rocket science

I'd finish the saff
yep the Mk1 will be worth more when its done, but the saff is easier to replace panels and bumpers so you can drive it hard without worrying about finding parts if you do bin it.
And free fab work means years to finish![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
I'd buy and sell the Mk1 and use the cash on the saff personally.

Escort but don't use the intercooler/rad combo's while talking to a few people at FF they said they was'nt that good.
Keep it simple aswell imo use as much off the shelf stuff as possible as one offs are expensive Trust me i'm about to do my cortina for the 3rd time..
And remember a fully sorted cossie escort is worth 10k+ imo

Do the mk1 as it will be worth more. BUT keep the saff useable until the shell fabrication and prep is done. That way you still have something to have fun in and won't lose heart in the escort before you've even began.
