Yes, because i've done it, the cheap way and the expensive way. All the cheap crap you see on ebay from America is the wrong spec. Good luck in getting good results with it.
The long engine is going to cost £2500-3000, depending on spec. Big power will require additional headwork. Then you've got turbo, manifolds, injectors, management, loom, mapping, dyno time, installation, intercoolers, fans, etc etc etc. It costs a fortune, just ask anyone on here who has actually done it.

There was a lad on here called Chrissy_bwoy that turbo'd his GTi, don't think he's around much now, he'd be a good resource if you can contact him. ASFAIK he broke it for parts in the end.

It's very relevant. My original post stated £3-10k. Are you somehow suggesting you can do it for less than £3k, drive-in, drive-out?

just had a look at that thread, very nice car pitty he had to break it.
only had mine a couple of weeks so it is still standard, its only done 62 k
hope 2 get it looking something like that.
