Time for my free upgrade, do I choose the N95 8 gig (already have and like the N95 silver), Or the 3g Iphone?

Had a play with my mates Iphone, love the slickness of it, especially the internet browsing, but not sure about a few things, ie lack of gps/tom tom, no bluetooth to other phones etc, and only a 2megapixel camera...

Anyone care to comment now they have both been out a while, or wait for the N96?

Alot of people at work have the 8gig N95 so it cant be all bad.

iphone = gimmick IMO, much better phones on the market..

Thing to remember with the IPhone 3G is that it is not actually a phone. Yes, you can make calls on it, but that is only one of its many functions.

I have an N95 8GB and it has been fine. It is currently in for repair, but that is because of me, not a fault with the phone.

My other half has the IPhone 3G and that works fine. WiFi can sometimes play up, but again, that is the surroundings, not the unit. The internet function is superb, nice and quick. One thing that I do not like with it is when filling forms in online, it can be fiddly, but that is nothing major. Connectivity with Apple products is instant, as would be expected. Connectivity with her Alpine media unit in the car is perfect (couple of initial glitches, but that was due to lack of support from the people who are meant to know).

Cases for the IPhone are Ł15 from the Apple Store and include a "sticker" that goes over the display to protect it.

One real hate I have with the IPhone is that the camera is 2mp, has no flash and no zoom function that I can find. Basically, the camera is ****. The N95 8GB on the other hand has a 5mp camera which is superb. Cannot fault it.

Another difference between the two is that the IPhone can just plug in via any IPod lead and download its data to the computer. The N95 8GB on the other hand has to be connected via a specific data cable with specific software and can be annoying, especially when you are used to SD-type cards.

One other thing to remember is that apparently the IPhone 3G will not work with BMW I-Drive systems for some reason where as the old one had a patch later on that allowed it to fudge its way through.

Wait for the N96 - due out next month!!!! Google it, it looks pretty awesome with spec to match!! And wont have the feel of a 5 year olds Fisher Price toy phone either!!

Im not sure the N96 is actually a better phone than the current n95-8GB, some stuff on the hpone forums re worse video capture performance and some other deal breakers for me. I read Nokia still class the 8GB N95 as the top of line phone but think N96 is way forward with next gen technology in it.

The Iphone has too many limitations for me although it is one hell of a slickly designed product.

If the Nokia N95 had the touch screen, I think it could be just about perfect for me, though I prefer the swappable memory cards in my original N95 to the fixed memory on the 8gb model.

As it is, I don't much like the buttons for internet use, but can live with that for the camera etc that are so much better than on the iPhone.
