Spiky - If an engine is 1500 to start with I am damn sure by the time you have fabricated it in to your Peugeot you will be over the cost of slapping a Turbo or SC on your GTi-6. And if you have one off parts like driveshafts and mounts then things get messy if you start breaking parts at the track.
If 3k is to Rotrex charge your GTi-6 you can get an easy 300bhp out of it if not more and would be perfect on track as the Rotrex keeps a linear power delivery so it just feels like a bigger capacity engine. That would be my choice.

I would say it would be cheaper to turbo yours, but a vag lump would be so trick!!
If you was to get a bam lump with a k04 nigh on 300hp is achievable with simple bolt ons and they are also very reliable. would love to see it
This is pretty cool too.

The std ECU can be remapped and with the right engine mods they can be custom mapped and handle 500bhp
Some TT's and S3 out there with a standard large port head and well over 400bhp
Your right about the turbo, slap on a GT30 and have fun
Don't forget the uprated valves and steel rods
linkage is cable shift
I'd say go for it as one of my mates has a Audi S3 that he has bored and stroked it out to 2.1 and its just saving to get a GT35 turbo for it. I'm now trying to sell my GTI and get something VAG namely a 20v Turbo

well just found out a 8v turbo bolts straight on giving a cr of 8:1, so ideal
the sc is 3k for low boost, giving 240bhp, i need low comp to turn boost up to 400bhp
i just need a ex manifold then

I said a BAM spec engine with a k04 and bolt on will make Nigh on 300hp i.e downpipe ic stage 2 software etc. You wouldnt be too far off
The next stage would be to upgrade turbo as flow on the ko4 becomes an issue at this power.

Far better is to run the IHI VF34 turbo and Jabba manifold as the combination flows more air and the less restrictive manifold allows the engine to rev better at the top end, I have that on our yellow MG and it works very well.

I know what you said! I have ran several K04 equiped BAM engines on my rollers WITH all the bolt ons and have only seen upto 270hp, they simply dont produce 300hp. As I mentioned you can get the K04 modified with different internals and they do then make 300.

Im pretty certain you would see a genuine 280-290 with the right bolt ons and even a few more with a reliable high flow mani.

ok bringing this back to the top ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
been looking at putting a T34 on my gti6 engine,
but would need to go lower comp and nice ex manifold (800 each)
so just wondering,
as i cant see me being able to turbo my current engine for 2k
and SC my engine is 3k
so can i fit the VAG lump in my car for around 2k? feasable or out of the question?
i'm sure me and paul could do the fabrication for engine mounts,
but what about engine/box/ecu/ drive shafts cost?
wiring i can do (i should think
)

Shame you cant see it or justify it etc - Karl turbo'd an MI16 for his mate a few years ago and having spoken to him at length on the subject and mooched around said car it was an immense bit of kit.
Cossied managed, big cooler and only on a Cossie T3... I'll see if I can dig out some pics or owt.
