the saff got rot :( - pics
noticed the rear bumper had unclipped on the nearside mount just behind the wheel last weekend, thought i'd sort it today and have a look - what a bad idea
some fucking reprebate decided that because there was a small hole, it would be a good idea to "fix" it using gaffer tape - fucking moron
after 10 mins of poking and pulling loose rust and rot off, i find the following
not happy - and no steel in the garage to plate it up
so had to cut the lid off my tool box and use that as a plate
not too bad - then there was the problem of resealing it after welding it - 1 tub of filler later stuffed down the inside to reseal all the hole where the welder couldnt reach
and then the problem of making a bumper mount - fortunately for me, i had this in mind at the weekend and took the angle grinder to a sierra at my mates house and violated it for the bumper mounting
with that in plate, all there was to do was finish sealing it up using shitloads of red oxide primer and a top coat of anti-corrosion black chassis paint on the outside and inside of the boot.
not bad for a first ever attempt at car-body repair i dont think - more used to making chassis for kitcars with the welder instead of welding my saff
best thing is - i didnt set fire to anything

saffs have air breathers there yes johnny - but there is still one on the other side
to make it worse, the problem was compounded by a leaking taillight thus water was collecting - but still no excuse for a fucking gaffertape repair job
