This should help, match them up exactly like this pic and you'll be fine, there is also a mark on the body of the dizzy (you'll have to remove the cap, you'll see a small notch which the rotor arm should face when at TDC.)

One VERY easy mistake is to use the 16 deg btdc mark to line up the timing

Makes sure you use the TDC mark as it will sound like a diesel if you get it wrong. No need to ask how I found out

looks like you probably got enough info there but here is a 3rd pic

OK these pics might all look the same but the instructions are on the left and different. For some reason I couldn't copy and paste txt.

It has to be one of the easiest belts to do, if you can do any belts this is kids stuff, just be sure to turn the tensioner the correct way as the wrong way will work but can put the belt run awfully close to the stat housing, turning the other stops this.

it does but to do it properly without risk of ruining the belt you need to take the crankshaft pulley off, especially if fitting the mountune grp a belt! (that is the only belt i ever used)

you have not done one then? There is only a tiny gap to get the cambelt thru down the crank pulley end,i am not sure if the std thin one goes thru but the grp a one can get damaged.

when i did my timing belt on my cossie i didnt know that you could feed the belt around the crank pulley. I had to take my radiator out and use a puller to remove the crank pulley. It was really tight.

Rich, as far as I was aware the crank has to come off to do the cam belt.

Nick,

Have you ever removed the crank pulley to fit a cambelt on a cossie?

you can squeeze it thru the gap but as said you risk damaging the belt...the grp a is thicker than the std belt.

According to the instructions above, you'll also need a paper gasket for the thermostat housing which has to come off

Stat housing doesnt need to come off!

And i've never been able to get the belt off wothout taking the pulley off (which is normally a pig, requiring a puller!)

Tipex the dizzy/oil pump pulley as well.

Good luck mate easy as long as you tripple check the timing marks before starting!

Turn the engine over by hand a few times before you turn it over with the starter too, just to be sure, fairly easy to do provided the plugs are out!

i must be magical as i didnt remove mine and i got the belt on and timed up correctly. Just a shame about the bent valves that were caused when the previosu belt snapped

maybe they used your method of installation..lol i take you run a std belt then,i never felt confident due to the thickness compared to the mountune one which is also heat treated (std belt is obviously fine though!)

Good advice and ive done it with pulley on and off I'd personally do it with the pulley off as its tricky to get the belt in imo
