Am glad have not got to make the decision to run or not. Weather looks grim. Such a pity cos I was looking forward to a great day if we could have run. You are the only car there at near 200 mph level but as you say not in the wet

Although...pity its so far apart.

Straightliners are running a top speed day at Elvington at the weekend...Sat and Sun.

Sun's weather forecast there is dry :S

Not exactly a 5 min drive from Ipswich though, or vica versa.

It is on my way to and from it though......

I have limited traction in the dry....Any time Ive tried to accelerate on a wet road.....well....it doesnt lol.

It does grip in 6th, but thats too tall to be useful for anything other than motorway driving.

201.2mph in the rain with standing puddles no grip whatsoever & a 0-150 time of 24.4secs, Nitrous on at 190 to nudge it on a bit.

Fairplay Rod, your car is a monster. I hope you can get it reliable again and set some more records.

Does it still feel fast to you on acceleration? I've found when you get used to a certain amount of power it doesn't feel fast anymore, although I don't have even half the grunt you have.

At this level its crazy quick & it dont slow down 170-180 = 1.9sec proves that & at that speed its a lot of ground being travelled in 1sec. Just ask Mark my reaction the first time I drove the car with over 850 horses, it really was a big shock. The A308 aint the place for that .

Standing water and part worn do1j's is mad. I remember thinking it must be really windy when I was driving at 163mph in the evo on Do1j's, as the car was getting blown across the lanes. But it was just the puddles there wasn't a breath of wind, the car was aqua planing so I lifted and gave up a couple of mph before the rev limiter.

200 mph, all that bhp through the rears and reasonable standing water is a tall ask and takes serious guts

I love it!

Rod, funny you bring that video up.
It was me who drove your son up the strip to film that fly-by and I'm sure Neal will remember that at the time in my 380hp, 4wd Evo with fresh D02's on, we nearly spun as I accelerated away from the edge of the runway. You would not believe how slippy that surface was and it is testament to Mark's ability and balls to keep that thing straight and true .... (and also my ability that I caught my sideways and didnt embarrass myself at 30mph by spinning off LOL

fair play to Mark - he is a talented driver WITH balls.

I agree the surface at Brunters is a nightmare in the wet!

It took me about 3 attempts just to get round the corner at the bottom fast enough to do a top speed run, the slightest look at the throttle and it just went round.

The thread on GTR forum is still going it seems-
http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/101217-72...4500-good.html

Pail Blamire from Zen Performance (ie the batshit fast Impreza Time Attack car etc) made an interesting post I jus noticed though, but its way over my head with regard to how dynos work, so needs some expert commentary, or maybe Sheady or someone to reply on there...

It's worth noting the results for ROd's engine come from an engine dyno where you can hold the RPM until the boost rises. Unless you hold it on the brakes you're not going to see those torque levels at 4500rpm with normal driving.

Basically saying its working as a transbrake, and just like a transbrake you get tons more spoolup, and i mean tons, than you would normally. Wether thats true or not, dunno, i dont have a clue about dynos.

Then Robbie from R.I.P.S. (ie legendary NZ Skyline tuner replied with...

I was thinking there'd have to be something like that going on but didn't want to start anything.

I think it would be a pretty safe bet to say that if he drove along in 4th gear at 4000rpm and nailed it, not alot would happen for quite some time.
Rob

Does Sheady or someone wanna reply on there to explain? I know fook all about dynos to know what the trusth is.

I remember StevenRW on here winning many a side by side race with such tactics lol.

I did it in the cossie with the nos armed and almost killed myself one night on the motorway, live and learn lol

Stav, AVA's rollers are similar to the dyno but its not as big a difference as Paul is saying.

I have driven my car on the rollers while doing the turbo testing and with the rollers set to hold the revs at 3k.

We could hold there all day and the boost will only rise to a certain level.

The way Paul is putting across is that if you hold it long enough the boost just rises and rises.

Quick Reply: Mad Rod back at the dyno today
