The only reason it looks good is because it was clean and unabused in the morning!

Cheers Harvey, not had it very long, but I'm cracking on with it at record pace!

I don't want anyone reading this thread walking away with the impression that the 888 is not a good tyre for track use because that is not the case. I have these on both of my cars

Going back to these Pirelli slicks, I'm sure Harvey told me they were part worns previously used on Porsche track cars?
if they are the ones he got off me,and looks like it in the pictures they are pirelli 225 650 x 18" rs5's,very hard tarmac moulded slick,17% tread in them.work very well on track as are hard, and are part worn off my own group A escort as used by myself.

theyre the ones tim we used the rs7's and found them too soft
comparing 245 40 18 888's to 225 640 18 rs5's we found the par used rally tyre better but as you say they are veryhard and when up to temperature are very grippy

Oh right, he'd had it a fairly long time must've been a little sad to see it go.

It did sound gearbox related.

Indeed! I love seeing it on track, it's a bit of an iconic track day car. It's rare to go to a Ford Show and not see the Reyland 3 door on track!

Well BE persuaded, it'll be an awsome day! Luke will finally have his car finished!

Sorry about the Harvey bit, just got stuck about the car

As for Porkie's old 3door, Blacky and I had a chat with the son of the bloke who now owns it, says its running well and very enjoyable. Good to see it still going strong, what a car!

Less than a second after this photo was taken the Sierra driver ran out of talent and skidded across the track nearly taking the Escort out in the process. Don't know how close it really was but from where I was sitting it looked far too close for comfort!

In my mind:
"Heroically Mike Rainbird spent 7 laps tussling with the superior powered Focus of Andy Gallagher and managed to hold him at bay through sheer talent and skill, before in the end a superior out-braking move by Andrew saw the battle won by the more powerful / lighter car"

The reality:
"Andrew Gallagher caught Mike Rainbird after not even starting in the same group, appearing from no-where in his mirrors, Rainbum indicated, pulled over (without a squeek), let him through and never saw the Focus again (apart from in the pits)"

Andy had obviously heard about Mikes previous antics at Bedford a few years ago and decided to attempt to ram him off the track.

I was going to put it another way but the thought of a Scotsman ramming Mike from behind has put me off my lunch
