Default Stripped Head Bolt

Im nearly in Tears,

Picked up my 2.5k engine on sunday, was torquing the head down tonight and one bolt is just spinning and not gripping,

there is still thread there just whenever you put any tq on it it clicks back up,

anything that can be done?

Longer bolt

counter sink the deck face and see if the thread goes deeper or drill/tap

fit an insert if possible to get to the bit...

think that's all the posibilities?

what block is it?

and if you drilled it deeper (if possible) then yes you'd need a longer bolt unless you countersunk the deck face (if possible)

If you can get to it, i'd try and get an insert fitted!

Errrr.......am I missing something. You spent 2.5K on an engine and one of the head bolts wont tighten up?

How about take it back to the place that charged you 2.5K in the first place?

Why was the head not put on by them?

Apologies if I have missed something.

The engine has come from the US,

also i know it was my fault it stripped, i screwed the ARP in too far and then when i went to unscrew it it pulled the thread out-not the fault of the engine builder.

And yes, lesson leanrt i will have someone else put the head on next time.
