It had a new slam panel
Quite ironically the shell has been sold on and its been rebuilt as a EFi 1.6 CVH Turbo...it eats those for breakfast though so dont give it too long.
And yes it failed on quite a few other things...nothing rust related though

it cant have rusted,,, the amount of oil in the engine bay from the engines that let go in it aswell as gearboxes
and the oil in the boot from the NEW engines that where left in there whilst getting the engines ready to fit
was better that waxoiling the car

u guys have been getting m.o.ts
u guys have been lucky by the sound of it, they could of easily failed you cars for being noisy as the reason for rejection is as follows
a silencer in such condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the vehicle is clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar vehicle with a silencer in average condition.
i would keep going back to wherever those testing stations are guys...good old boys hey!!!
as for the seatbelt although sounds funny (no rear seats fitted at the time of test) its because at the time of the tester registering your car for m.o.t the database used asks you how many seats are in the vehicle. if you put say 1 passenger seat, and theres still rear seat belt available in the back with or without seats this could come back onto the tester especially if the owner had an accident !!! also the seats are in included in the test however only to define if the seat is secure and that the back locks in the upright postion.
just thought i would try to give some answers to the advisories

i once took the estate for an mot and the guy tested it and failed it on loads of things
then said "come back and i'll test it properly"
"so you haven't tested it properly this time aroudn then?"
"no, it's got bits wrong with it i can see but you still need to give me the Ł30 for the test"
needless to say they aren't in operation now after i made a few phone calls
didn't get my money back though
