Default standard escos things to look out for anyone no of anything?

Hi guys and girls got a standard escort cosworth big turbo and was just wondering if theres anything i should be changing on it or to keep an eye out for such as wireing ect. Seems to get a bit off a misfire at higher revs is this common on standard ones.
Any input welcome just want to make sure im looking after it as best i can really dont want it dying on me if it can be avoided. cheers Rob.

Use the right oil and the right petrol, that's the biggest two worries sorted

Check engine mounts as mine broke and caused my engine to dent the bonnet and the driveshaft to snap

Rust is the main thing these days as the cars are getting old. If you keep it at bay or don't let it take hold in the first place you'll be fine. Some people have spent a forture getting it sorted.

Yes escort cosworth. Was coming on boost in second gear, going round a right hand bend, heard a massive bang and the rear end just snapped sideways but luckily I managed to wrestle it straight. Looked under the car and noticed the shaft had shat itself and also noticed the small dent in the bonnet. Managed to get it home and one of the engine mounts had snapped in half so got some Reyland ones which seem superb

I thought that happened when they were lowered, something to do with the angle of the driveshaft? Hence people fitting lengthen driveshafts?

But could see a broken mount making a mess of things!

Well it is lowered too, which probably didn't help either mate. One good thing came out of it though, I found out my brake caliper was loose from whoever fitted the AP's!
