Whats a live rear axle?
As above - seen it spoke about in the RR+P section, but i don't know what it is
What other types of axle are there, and why is one better than the other?
Thanks
Rich

It means the diff is part of the sprung weight basically mate, rather than fixed to the shell.
A cossie is an exmaple of a car that ISNT a live rear axle.

More unsprung wieght makes the rear end harder for the suspension to control, so you potentially end up with less grip during changes of direction as a result.

Live axles are fun, especially in small & light cars.
Hours of fun til you snap a shaft or twat the kerb and rip a tyre off.

Thing about them is they are "old tech" and because of that there has been years of development to tune the handling.
if you look on the Turbosport forum there's a company called RetroMotorsport he knows loads of info on live axle setups go on there and have a read
