Default 150w/300w power inverter help..

hello all, i bought a 150w/300w power inverter mainly for my laptop for when i go camping thinking it will be good for charging it up, according to my laptop it takes 90w to charge when plugged in so i thought the inverter should give my a constant 150w power but everytime i plug it in i get a red light saying the charge is to much ? ive tryed other things like my mobile and video camera and digital camera and they work but all those have 12v plug ins anyway, i think i read some were on the net that a 150w/300w will only accept up to 70w? so whats going on

150W means its capable of supplying 150W of power when required, and assuming input voltage/current is adequate.

Ive found with mine, that in most cases, the engine needs to be running.

Is it attached to the cigarette lighter socket, or direct to the battery ? Going straight for the battery will help.

They don't all do what they say unfortunately.
They are as said VERY voltage sensitive, but 300 watt ones are only around £30 from maplins, these DO kick out 300watts as I have two, they do also consume a vast amount of battery power doing the conversion.
