I want one as soon as my 1.8T is done.
265bhp from the box and silly silly power is achievable. Serach Audi S4 on YouTube there are some rapid cars out there

have you had any experience with s4's? what sort of power to get the mad 370bhp cosworth style acceleration, being 4wd and a bit hevier than the saff?
is it expensive to tune compared to cosworths?

but 500 quid see you a remap, to 320bhp
then its RS4 ICs and turbos 3K ish for around 380bhp
then onwards and upwards in terms of money and power,
common issues
turbos, waterpump, diverter valves ( mines got forge ones ) suspesion bushes! getting caught speeding

Front suspension arms can be a pain as there are about 8 on each side and they can creak. My last A4 used to creak and I would sort it for it to re appear about 6 months later (usually after the wife put it through the car wash)

i picked it for Ł3,500 with 70,000 miles. my friends are big in the ferrari/lambo game and sometimes come across customers who just want to get a car of their drive, the guy told my mate if he took it today he could have it for 3,500 so my mate called me and i liked it so bought it!
checked pistonheads and similar spec milage car going for 6-7k

my friends one he had was chipped and had a stainless exhasut, was running about 320bhp.
was fairly rapid, handled like it was on rails, and had all the toys, xenons climate, bose stereo etc......alot of car for 7k. not quite as quick as my stage 3 saff but not far off....by any means

I know PPC magazine did a buying guide for these in the last month or so,deffo not more than two editions ago, mainly listed the same probs as above, which were very few, but i seem to recall something about getting the ecu reset at the dealer could cause probs? Apparently if the car is running slightly wrong the ecu records it, but when it goes to VAG for a service it can wipe this info out when they plug in the diagnostics tool. Not sure exactly, so i would read up on the article. Awesome value though. . . and you wont be cracking the welder out like you probably would on a 3.5k saffy!! oh shit, thats what i own!!!!

Thats a bargain mate, was looking at getting one instead of a Cossie as the insurance is decent on them too.
They also have an insanely quick 0-50 time 3.8 seconds, if you see one launch properly they are very impressive.
Cheapest I saw when looking was Ł4300 and that had 150k on it and a small fault.
Proper good value there mate, what colour is it out of interest?

They are a lovely car and can be made to be stupid fast.
Doug at MRC just had his upto 196 mph at bruntingthorpe and with under 550 bhp!!!!!
I had mine with 450 bhp 460 lbft, 18" RS4 alloys, porsche brakes and all the tools, climate, recaros, bose, xenon e.t.c
Had it from 82,000 miles to 126,000 and only the divertor valves and the MAF sensor went wrong.
Nick
(mine is still in my sig)
