Do you know if mobile speed detector vans flash from the camera if you are speeding , as ive just gone past one doing 46/7 MPH in a 40.
It was around a corner and was doing said speed when i first saw it , as soon as i saw it a slammed on the brakes down to around 39mph , it didnt fash though but not sure if mobile detector vans do

No they do not, you may be lucky if you braked before he managed to train the camera on to you (unless of course there were no other cars in front of you).

As Mike says.........NO FLASH from these vans, they use lazer speed detection coupled to a very high quality digital camera. I have approached one of these vans at (or slightly below) the speed limit allowed, and my Valentine 1 detector has given a loud "blat" noise indicating that I have been targeted by the lazer......but I guess if a vehicle is doing less than the speed that the Police officer has pre-set (say he has set it to 44 MPH in a 40 zone) then no picture is taken.........

AFAIK as soon as the approaching (targeted) vehicle IS OVER the pre-set speed the pic is taken automatically.......

Mobile vans round here plug into a small box on the side of the road,
theres 3 lines in tarmac which calculate your speed
So you can slow down before you cross lines and get fook all

They soon will work in the dark as they are bringing out ones with special pink flash for night time.

That's just fucking ridiculous - difference between accuraccy of speedo and/or new/old tyres could account for 3mph difference... bastards

I don't think they do flash My hubby has just been caught by one, he got the 3 second of 'mobile' warning on the road angel and slammed on the brakes, it was too late by this time, he was caught doing 84 in a 70. The letter took about 3 days to come through. This was in Cambs on the motorway, the cop van was on a brigde about a mile away when it caught him, fookers!

BTW, it's only motorways and dual carriage ways where we would go a bit faster.
