Sub £500 banger
Right, need a sub £500 banger that will literally be used for about a fortnight of abuse when me and the lads go over to France to visit and old mate.
Conditions are:
Sub £500
Needs to be able to carry luggage for 4
Be comfortable for the long journey
Don't fancy another Vectra as been there done that. I've looked at a couple of Mondeos but havn't found anything of interest as yet. I've been offered the loan of my old Rover 400 Diesel but it isn't the best for comfort as it has a low roofline in the back and mates moaned about that before. Only thing that i've been offered otherwise is a Rover 800 Fastback
and I really want to avoid that if at all possible!!
Any other suggestions/anybody got anything For Sale? Literally need it for that fortnight and then will be selling it on!

Random as fuck...
Seen the ideal car today, VW Estate, turbo diesel, 12 months MOT (so boyo for selling on again), must of been an old passat, like M-reg, 495 from a car pitch near where I have been working today. Only fucker is that its in Barnsley so not exactly round the corner for you sadly.

Was looking at the old Passats on eBay & AutoTrader yesterday, funnily enough.
Got sorted anyway slightly more than I wanted to pay but got an S plate Peugeot 406 1.8 LX with 8 months MoT and 2 months tax off a mate for £550 (was advertised at 800 so not a bad deal I don't think) and its running absolutly spot on

Got my scort for £270 with tax and test.
Despite its small outside size a four door escort is actually very comfy and roomy. Boots big too, then theres the roof should you need it -as it still has proper roof gutters for racks.
Cheap honest transportation.
If anything breaks you can fix it with a handful of tools and 20 quid at partco (or le' partco depending on where you are).
