Default standerd cosworth turbo damper and the rose jointed ones

hi just wanted to start a littel topic on turbo dampers the standerd item on a rs500 is a vibration absorber of some sort but once removed and replaced with a baliey damper the rose jointed type its only to support the turbo so what about vibration then coz the rose jointed ones dosnt do much to help vibration

i had this conversation with some one years ago, i said that the spherical joint type will do nothing more than hold the weight of the turbo, one of the oe issues was NVH and snapping studs, hence the damper was invented, then it gets replaced with a hanging thing

I've also had conversations about these lol, i had a bailey one fitted that managed to snap the turbo bracket so i removed it straight away!!!

I'd personally never use one or recommend one to anybody.

The standard one is there to protect from Harmonic resonance apparently too..

If you need a new one i'd just buy a standard 3dr or even better an RS500 item.

I don't like the spider type Bailey ones. When I asked them exactly how it's better than the standard one I have, all they said is it's better made. I couldn't see how it worked personally, and prefer the standard one.

standard one does the job just fine, if set up correctly.

I use the rose jointed type on my car as it's a turbo support rather than a damper. On a standard car the manifold is pretty tough but I wouldn't risk my inconel one without a turbo hanger.
