Default Fully floating con rods and gudgeon pins....

the gudgeon pins are held in with a small wire circlip.

How do you install the circlip??
Is there a special tool required?

The clips are far to strong to compress by hand or with pin-nosed pliers.

Thanks for any help.

Matt.

this may sound silly but have u tried circlip pliers. they work in reverse so that if u squeeze the handle rather than closing the end it opens it! just a thought

Gudgeon pin circlips are internal circlips mate not external. Good sugestion though if it's not been tried...

My fully floating pistons had a circlip without eyelets though.

They are not a standard type circlip with the holes for pliers.

They are a wire circlip, basically just a bit of round wire.
Its a really strong spring wire and really hard to bend, so i think you must have to use a special tool.

Matt.

Something like a small piston ring compressor would be ideal....

Always make sure you install them in a room with a clean floor because you will ping at least one across the room while trying to get them in and they are a bugger to find afterwards!

I usually order a couple of spare circlips with every set of pistons if i can.

I gathered that would be the case so ordered 10.

How do you go about installing them??

I usually uses the 'brute force' method with these on 2 stroke engines but they can sometimes be put in by hans slightly wonky, then using a flat, sized piece of bar pushed into the pistons hole into the reatining groove.
