I'd have to go with a black Ford Ka with Ford Racing arches left flat black with a set of black steelies, that would complete a standard looking Ka ( bar the slightly wider arches ). YB engine with around 400 to 500bhp powering the rear wheels with a proper sequential 'box and big diff.

Living in the real world, for about 10k if you doing labour yourself, with very little fabrication, and decent reliabilty and useability, you could build a 700bhp+ turbocharged 351 Windsor powered Sierra with a TKO600 box, 8.8 mustang rear end (or run a 9in cossie rear diff for less fab work but more money), and mini tubbed rear arches, without too much bother.

low 10sec or even 9sec 1/4s and 200mph+ on road legal tyres, pump fuel, and decent reliability.

chip are those engine any good? as i was contemplating the newer RS4 or S4 engine and running gear to go in a mk1 or mk2 go and 4wd obviously.

But if this is any good i could use this, and with the money saved on the engine whack a couple of turbo's on if it could be done cheap enough.

Yes they are fantastic engines.

Audi Turbo'd them anyway in some of the cars, so you could just start with a turbo one if you dont want ridiculous power.

audi made 450bhp in the RS6 turbochangred with a 9.3:1 compression and silly low boost like 7psi IIRC (had a little overboost which may make the top figure)

I suspect even the standard engine on 10:1 would swallow 4-5 psi quite happily and make damn good power!

for my money

lexus is200, lexus 1ufze, 2 turbos, misc

i would rather fit a complete engine and drivetrain complete stadard package, hence why i was looking at RS4 engine and box's.

bog standard easily take the power all day long. so never any breakage issue's, especially in a much lightre car.

Alistair, doing it so it actually works, and doing it so it looks ok in posts on the internet (rubbish clutch, cheapy turbos etc) are two different things.

Doing it right, you are looking at 2500 quid realistically for the box and clutch, thats what I meant by a pain in the arse, as thats 25% of the entire budget for the whole car, where as an auto box is essentially free.

Ryan couldnt agree more, take package out of big heavy car, put in small light car, go fast

(like an XE nova essentially)

Im aware theyre different things fella! Also depends on time and how you go about sourcing parts, I did my corsa with new everything on the road for about 700 quid, but it took time!

If lexus specced a clutch for 300bhp however i wouldnt be surprised if it was ok at 400 provided you dont go for big ugly midrange spikes or anything.

As for ryans comment, I also agree 100%, there was a recent discussion on locostbuilders about transmission swaps etc and using something from the original manifacturer is always desireable. Just a shame audis transmission while strong is utterly wank for transplant due to sticking the engine out of the front of the car on anything small/light

you do surprise me! there is a build thread on on of the audi forums of a guy putting one into a mk2 golf, and hes on side rads and a fully spaceframed front end to get enough length ahead of the wheel centres!

goes in an A4 ok tho

yeah chip i want to build something with a standard engine/box configuration.

and concentrate more on the suspension and brakes.

hence why i think a 4wd RS4 in a mk1 or mk2 golf would be pretty awesome

will take the abuse all day long, as its essenetially probably half the weight of the original car it came from.

Its either that or fit the usual 1.8T Cupra R engine and box which i can get new for peanuts and slap that in at 250 hp all day long.

obviously will be less power, but again save more weight that the 4wd V8 option, and also virtually no fabrication work still being FWD, jsut fit much larger wheels and 888's

This is my old Audi 100 Quattro I got from my neighbour here in NZ(saved from death basically). It was a top spec model, full leather, electric everything, air con etc etc. I work at Audi/Porsche dealer and have never seen another loaded like it. I wanted to turn it in to a sleeper but the missus told me too many toys it had to go, so my neighbour took it back.......

A crap Photoshop for a laugh

With this in it.......

Or one of the older Audi 80 Quattro with a 2l 16v Turbo in it was another plan, maybe one day, but not enough old cheap Audis over here.

Jason is rear mounting the radiator, and is space framing the front end.

I just said it will go, and I didnt say it pops in with an engine crane in 20 mins on the standard mounts

ah, so exactly the problems I had in mind then!

none of the stuff discussed really drops in, but at least the lexus v8 and supra box looks like it might fit in roughly the right place :P

problem is for 10k I want a nice car, otherwise something like wennys royal nail with 450bhp would be cool
