Yes, a poorly bricked and cemented up chimney that started to crumble the more we hit it with a chisel. Then we got to the concrete vent bricks, followed by the old lime plaster wasnt boned to the brick anymore.
All in all, it looks like if we hammer at it much more we are going to have to remove and re-plaster that wall completely, as opposed to teh simple room re-skim we have booked for tomorrow. Tiem beat me, but i will revisit the plan when we re-decoate next year.

Sadly, time is against us in this room. The plasterer is here tomorrow to do the whole room and decorators here a week later. They are all fully booked as their excelllent quality work is in demand as they are very good, so i cant put them off to another day. The main reasoin for the rush is Baby Ella will be here in a few weeks and it has to be finished for then.
That wall will be dealt with next year. Properly.

Didnt take anything wonderfull, but here you go, the wall with wires in awaiting the final skim today/tomorrow.
In that wall now are:
1x power
1x Coax for freeview
1x Sat cable for Freesat HD
2x HDMI 1.3b
1x Fully wired extra high quality Scart.
1x Cat 6 Lan.
1x TOS
1x Component
1x audi in (Rca x2)
1x audi out (Rca x2)
We removed all the loose lime plaster from the area where the bracket will be fixed to the wall and re plastered the wall so we will be afixing to nice new material when the time comes.
Photobucket is down so they are attached to this message.

Reminds me coming back home from work years ago, neighbours were gutting their house for a complete re-fit and in doing so made an A4 sized hole in the wall between us and them - they had a direct view into our lounge
Had to paper over it until they could be bothered to fix it
Oh, and looking good stu, but you could have done a better job of running power to the ceiling light

on my 42" i put in about 12 M8 rawl-bolts right into the blockwork
on the 50" i put in 6 M12 rawlbolts into the brickwork
and considering i was hoiting myself up on just one of these bolts, i'd say there was plenty of over engineering done to hold that telly in place
the one thing i would advise now though stu is to make sure that when you put the bracket up, before you decide to screw it into the wall and stuff, make up a bit of a template and offer it up to the wall to centralise it and make sure it's at the right levels etc before you start making holes
i had to move mine about 2 inches to one side and up about an inch because the holes i'd put in originally went into the mortar of the joints rather than the brick, but i filled these in before painting and papering the wall, then put the bolts into the holes that were underneath the covering so it didn't make a big mess
the other hting you want to fully make sure if is the distance from the wall to the back of the telly, as some mounts will not leave you with enough space/cleanarce to put either the cables into the back of the telly or your hands in to fix the cables into the back of the sockets
