Default are bd16 cams noisey?

just got mine fired up for the first time, and it has a noise at idle, sounds top end,

seems to be at idle, and on the pick up when reving...

only ran it for a min, so may even be tappets

its fine if i hold it at 1500rpm

No they're not normally noisey. You do need to run them in at 2000 rpm for 20 minutes after which the tappets are normally quiet.

One problem you may have is if you have not ensured your valve springs can cope with the extra lift? If this is the case the tappets will remain noisey.

Fingers crossed for you James.

Possibly a sticky tappet or two. Are they new?

I have bd 16,s with isky springs in mine and had to have the spring seats machined to

avoid coil bind.

it´s just the tappets, and if you run iskys you might have to modify the seats, if you run the standard springs with inserts, you shouldent have a problem.
Run mine on std with inserts and bd16+ cam with no problems what so ever.
Leave it @ 2k for some time, and they should be ok again, otherwise you have to get some new in
