Excellent cars, spacious, understated - well not racing blue & a good level of equipment compared to equivalent VW or Audi.

they dont have turbo lag!!!

the Vw engines have a variable vain turbo. boosts at 1500 and up! there is no possible chance of lag.

Its most probably the gear ratios u noticed!

where they start giving boost (boost threshold) and lag are not the same thing

Solid and reliable. Not desirable in the slightest imo. Good mini cabb. Quality isn't Audi standards inside either, far less sound proofing and plastics are more basic.

I drove a brand new octavia 1.9 tdi 5 speed, so i'm assuming it was a 90 ps model? i thought it was o.k. but the engine was fookin noisy, the same as my 2007 transporter 85 ps.,so maybe you get less soundproofing on a skoda? I was looking at trading my m3 for an ex police vrs, then the road tax thing put paid to that idea!

Decent cars, although i think youd be a mug to buy a brand new one or even a new-ish one imo. Yes you would save alot over the equivelent VW, but when considering the money youd lose in depreciation after a very short period, you may aswell have bought the equivelent vw in the first place and be quids in in the long run. What im saying its id rather have the equivelent VW thats slightly older for the same money as a newer skoda, becase it wont be long before the value of the newer skoda falls below the value of the older VW.
